• Ferrer in first-round action on day 2

    6/24/13 10:52 PM | Kelli DeMario
Ferrer in first-round action on day 2 World No. 4 David Ferrer is set to being his Wimbledon run with an first-round match against Argentina's Martin Alund. The winner moves on to face either Roberto Bautista Agut or Teymuraz Gabashvili in the second round.

Fourth seed David Ferrer will be looking to regroup after suffering an opening-round defeat at the Topshelf Open. The 31-year-old Spaniard was unable to defend his 2012 title, having fallen to fellow veteran Xavier Malisse in straight sets.

Ferrer is seeking his 38th main-draw victory of the season.

World No. 101 Martin Alund is bidding for his first main-draw win since April, when he made the round of 16 in Houston. The 27-year-old Argentine will attempt to record his first victory at the Championships after failing to qualify in 2010 and 2012.
