• Murray opens Wimbledon bid against Becker

    6/23/13 6:15 PM | Kelli DeMario
Murray opens Wimbledon bid against Becker World No. 2 Andy Murray is set to commence his run with a first-round match against Germany's Benjamin Becker. The players are slated to contest their career meeting late Monday afternoon.

World No. 2 Andy Murray holds a 1-0 series advantage over World No. 95 Benjamin Becker. The players met recently at Queen's Club, where the Scot won a quarterfinal match en route to the title.

“He's got a very good attitude, he works very hard, he serves well. He hits the ball pretty flat, which works well on the grass courts,” said the second seed.

Murray enters the third Grand Slam tournament of the season with a 27-5 record. The 26-year-old Scot will be making his eighth appearance at Wimbledon, where he generated his best result in 2012. Murray advanced to his first final before falling short to seven-time champion Roger Federer.

Becker has compiled a modest 5-6 record at Wimbledon, having failed to record consecutive victories in six attempts. The 32-year-old veteran is seeking his sixth main-draw win of the season.

    Prediction: Murray in straight sets.

Pity you didn't watch the documentary last night, pennster. Even your heart of ice might've melted a little.
Especially enjoyed the contributions from Kevin Spacey, Rafa and Timmy. So harrowing watching him try to talk about the Dunblane massacre though. Nobody should EVER criticise Judy for her support either. She thought her boys had died in that school.
Come on Andy, brilliant ordinary guy, with an EXTRAORDINARY talent.
Let's Go Andy! Let's Go!

I remember the Dunblane massacre very well. However, until last year I never knew that it was Andy's school. I believe there was a special about it on the network here in the states either before or during Wimbledon. It's an unbelievable story. Andy's poor Mom not knowing if her boys were alive. It just brought me to tears.

You know how I feel about hating on any player. I don't understand it and never will. I can love Rafa and also have good feelings about other players. What he and his family have been through with that terrible massacre has only made them stronger. Bless their hearts.

"You know how I feel about hating on any player. I don't understand it and never will."

Yet you have been nickname CBM by Nole fans on tennis-x and tennis sites and have been chased away like the plague from tennis-x. Djokovic fans on both those sites know that you hate nole for whopping nadal 7 times in a row and showing him up for the clay-court specialist he is.

Nole is not 5 years older than rafa so that you can keep hoping he will somehow win a slam outside clay. Since Nole became Godkovic in AO 2011, rafa has won exactly 1 title outside clay - IW 2013.

JamesDjokovicFan , 6/24/13 12:24 PM

...and where is Nole during IW 2013?

'Since Nole became Godkovic in AO 2011, rafa has won exactly 1 title outside clay - IW 2013'
...And, as we all know, clay has no value in tennis, even though it's the surface where it originated from (and incidentally, it was first played as a sport in France, where a, also worthless, RG takes place).

Shireling , 6/24/13 2:07 PM

Shirling ............that Djokovic wants to win even more badly than an Olympic gold medal.

ed251137 , 6/24/13 2:25 PM

...........ditto Mr. Federer also

ed251137 , 6/24/13 2:26 PM
