    Eastbourne- Tomic advances, Anderson upset Australia's Bernard Tomic is through to the second round at the AEGON International after ousting wildcard James Ward. The 20-year-old is joined by veteran Julien Benneteau, who defeated 5th seed Kevin Anderson.

    Australia's Bernard Tomic snapped a string of opening-round losses on Tuesday, having upended British wildcard James Ward. The 20-year-old tallied 7 aces through 61 minutes of play. Tomic ended the day with 32 of 40 first-service points captured.

    Tomic is through to take on France's Julien Benneteau in the next round.

    Veteran Julien Benneteau made a successful start to the tournament with a straight-sets upset of 5th seed Kevin Anderson. The Frenchman converted three of 9 break points through an hour and 38 minutes of play. The South African struggled with his second serve, winning just 15 of 36 points.
