• Nadal takes on Fognini for a spot in the French Open round of 16

    6/1/13 5:11 AM | Cheryl Murray
Nadal takes on Fognini for a spot in the French Open round of 16 Defending champion Rafael Nadal will play for a second consecutive day, as the Spaniard looks for a spot in the final 16.

Rafael Nadal hasn't been as dominant in this French Open as he's been in previous years. The Spaniard has already dropped a set in each of his two matches played.

Nadal and Italy's Fabio Fognini have played just once before just a few weeks ago at the Rome Masters. Nadal won that match 6-1, 6-3 en route to the Rome title.

Nadal has struggled a bit with the heavy, wet conditions in Paris during week 1, but he has shown a veteran's experience in working out the win to advance. Fognini is a competent clay-courter, but Nadal does everything on clay just a bit better than Fognini does.

The weather is forecast to be wet through the weekend, so Fognini could be more competitive than he was last time, but the Spaniard should still find his way through the match.

Rafa let your racket do the talking!!!. The French will love it even more if you continue to complain about things . Tennis fans can see what is going on and agree with you .But let it go ....Vamos Rafa King of Clay for ever

sals3 , 6/1/13 7:01 AM

^^Totally agree.

Hope it's warmer today and Rafa's mood matches. At least the Fog will give Rafa some rhythm, this much we know. Expect the odd stupendous shot making from the Fog but Rafa will prevail today, with more colm.

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 7:22 AM

Cheryl: Which weather forecast are you looking at?
La Chaine Meteo shows a different picture! At the worst some cloud from time to time.

ed251137 , 6/1/13 7:32 AM

Today is the day Rafa has to find his equilibrium because after today, it's "squeaky bum time" as Sir Alex would say! After the Fog, next scheduled opponent is the winner of Jerzy/Wawa match. I fancy Jerzy in that match which would mean another giant in Rafa's path, a giant whom Uncle Toni has fingered as a future Top 3.

Vamos Rafa!

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 8:21 AM

Weather scheduled to be wet again. And going off Nadal's first two rounds where he lost the opening set, the odds are 7/1 for Fognini to take the 1st set. Not too bad. Still Rafa should make it through in 4 sets. Preferably in 3.

dejan1989 , 6/1/13 8:44 AM

I would say Stan against Jerzy although it'll be a close call. For the sake of Rafa's knees I hope it will be!

ed251137 , 6/1/13 8:45 AM

I really wish we could get the weather report straight. Now I don't know what to expect.

"Squeaky bum time"! I call it when the rubber meets the road! Rafa is going to have to get it together because there will be no easy opponents after this match.

I really don't want Rafa to have to face another big serving guy. I have mixed feelings about Jerzy from what I have seen. I don't like his attitude and temperament on court, but there is no denying that he's got the shots and the game to do very well in this sport.

If Stan's thigh injury is okay, then I think he can win this match.

Nativenewyorker , 6/1/13 8:51 AM

#Vamos Rafa

nadline , 6/1/13 8:59 AM

It would be entirely in line with the ober-nationalistic French to do everything they can to obstruct Rafa's path in the hope that a Gasquet or Tsonga might slip through and claim the title.

nadline , 6/1/13 9:18 AM

nny: Have just spoken with friends in Paris who confirm the sun is shining.

It's the lst June and summer has finally arrived - at least for the next ten days!

The rumour about rain was fanned by Cheryl. Take a look at the link I gave @7:32 AM

ed251137 , 6/1/13 9:21 AM

Thanks so much! I must have skipped over that link.

Nativenewyorker , 6/1/13 9:36 AM

@nadline, I do not think the French care at all about their own. They were cheering Fed against Benneteau for goodness' sakes! For them it's ABR (anyone but Rafa), preferably Fed.

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 10:30 AM

Keep your mind focused and enjoy the battle, Rafa!

Augustina08 , 6/1/13 10:48 AM

Hourly forcast: sunny or partly cloudy and windy.

Augustina08 , 6/1/13 10:53 AM

Spot on. Defintely a case of ABR. They are desperate for Federer to prevail over Rafa.
Some hope ha ha. However to be fair the crowd, they enjoy a good scrap like the Monfils-Robredo match and by their normal standards were verging on well behaved.

ed251137 , 6/1/13 11:00 AM

RITB: Rfa does not play Jerzy/Stan in 4th. Its either Benoit or NIshikori

Jersy/Stan/Gasquet are all QF opponents

sanju , 6/1/13 11:08 AM

Thanks @sanju! Just shows you who I am fixated on, Jerzy, not Nole! I hope Reeshad takes care of Jerzy boy then.......

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 11:11 AM

Jerzy yes is dangerous. He can catch fire in a match

Again I dont think Rafa has played him right? So untested waters

sanju , 6/1/13 11:15 AM

@10:53 AM The wind could be a factor (30kpm) and provoke UEs - luckily Nadal handles windy conditions fairly well.

ed251137 , 6/1/13 11:16 AM

@ed251137, 6/1/13 11:16 AM
_The wind could be a factor (30kpm)_
The forecast says 19 kmph. Women are playing on court Philippe Chatrier. The influence of wind is not visible.

Augustina08 , 6/1/13 11:54 AM

It is unfortunate that RAFA lacks ground support at Grand slams.
They must reserve some seats for RAFA fans.

sabs , 6/1/13 12:34 PM

Gussie: the site I'm looking at shows 30kmph. Take your pick ;-)

ed251137 , 6/1/13 2:01 PM

It's Nishikori Rafa will be facing if he goes through the Fog............

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 2:05 PM

RT @juanjo_sports: "Nishikori ended up with 34 UFEs, which represented 29% of all the points won by Benoit Paire."

Hope Nishikori continues with his strategy of donating points to the opposition in his meeting with Rafa next..................

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 2:23 PM

RT @christophclarey: "Ivo on returning to courts after health problems RT @ivokarlovic Feels like im playing against Rafa on clay. And I forgot to put eye contacts "

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 3:34 PM

I'm back from my exam! and thought the match was over by now! but it hasn't been started yet!

rafaelo , 6/1/13 3:39 PM

Hey Rafaelo,

when will these exams be over, they seem like to be going on for ever!!................hehe!!!

Monalysa , 6/1/13 3:52 PM

:)) it's my final exams period! it will be over in 9 days ;)

rafaelo , 6/1/13 3:53 PM

Looked nice and sunny during Sugarpova's match, looks overcast now.............

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 3:56 PM

Well good luck Rafaelo, hope you get all favourabe results!!!!

Rafa is standing too far behind baseline, as always, but Vamos, Rafa!!!

Monalysa , 6/1/13 4:13 PM

Rafa has been very casual on break points so far this RG. Looking for him to find some rhythm in this match.

willmw101 , 6/1/13 4:14 PM

I get so sick of these commies going on and on about how to beat Rafa at RG!!! They cant even help hiding their bias!!! Its just really sickening!!! I never ever heard any commies talking about how to beat Federer at Wimby back then.................well I guess Rafa showed them!!!!

Vamos, Champ!!!

Monalysa , 6/1/13 4:19 PM

Cannot believe rafa hasn't improved his backhand return, he has lost so many points because of it, and now, another break point thrown away.

willmw101 , 6/1/13 4:22 PM

This backhand is a joke. so many UE's

willmw101 , 6/1/13 4:23 PM

How's he started? Can't watch the match cus I'm in some randomers house and the tv says no signal

rafakid , 6/1/13 4:25 PM

Rafa gets a time violation warning and the Fog now has triple break points

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 4:27 PM

Time violation??? I though the slams had 30 secs between points. And now after wasting two break points rafa is about to get broken. So frustrating watching rafa play like this after he was so good in Rome. Inexplicable drop off.

willmw101 , 6/1/13 4:27 PM

just great!!!!! sick of this RG

rafaelo , 6/1/13 4:27 PM

Count on rafa getting a point penalty later on after already getting a warning after only 4 games.

willmw101 , 6/1/13 4:28 PM

The Fog breaks.........Rafa is really determined to make a meal of his matches it appears......

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 4:30 PM

This is a serious question. Why has rafa been playing like this after being so good in Rome and Madrid? Anyone have any ideas? Seriously want to know.

willmw101 , 6/1/13 4:30 PM

F*** this

rafakid , 6/1/13 4:31 PM

wills: Somebody on Eurosport was talking about the film which analysed the knee problem and was saying this is why he cannot place his left foot correctly for the BH hence it lacks power.

ed251137 , 6/1/13 4:32 PM

@willmw101, he only came together in the final in Madrid and in the semi and final against Berdy and Fed in Rome.

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 4:33 PM

So?? Those titles and the level of play should have given him tonnes of confidence.

willmw101 , 6/1/13 4:36 PM

His backhand has been lacking for a long time now. What has been a "problem" so far at RG is his forehand, he has been making a lot of errors off that wing. His movement has also not been great so far but that can be explained by the damp conditions.......

Rafa needs to find his forehand.....

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 4:37 PM

Great. Mats Wanker is talking about Soderling in 2009. I ask you.

ed251137 , 6/1/13 4:37 PM

I just don't believe this!!!!!!

rafaelo , 6/1/13 4:38 PM

You know i think its just an intensity problem. In that game where rafa held for 3-4 he just upped his level a bit and he was unplayable. Used to seeing him like that for entire matches at RG but we havent seen that yet.

willmw101 , 6/1/13 4:38 PM

Vamos Rafa!!!

phoenix , 6/1/13 4:38 PM

RITB but considering that rafa was v pleased with his on form backhand last year at RG and was probably one of the reasons he thrashed djokovic in the final, I think his backhand is very key. His forehand will always be more consistent than his backhand.

willmw101 , 6/1/13 4:40 PM

fognini gifts the break back. Now push on rafa.

willmw101 , 6/1/13 4:42 PM

I don't have the will to watch this!

rafaelo , 6/1/13 4:42 PM

Foggy is serving well and Rafa's not making any impression on it. He needs to pick up his own serve for the next set.

ed251137 , 6/1/13 4:42 PM

willmw101, absolutely, His backhand is key. But I read somewhere that the intensity off that wing dropped off after initial knee problems. So, that definitely has been affected byn the knee injuries. The forehand, otoh, is his go-to shot, he cannot afford to have that go off.........

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 4:44 PM

Rafa seems to have finally picked up his intensity...................i guess he just needed to get broken...........and in previous matches, lose first set.......hehe!!!!

Monalysa , 6/1/13 4:45 PM

Go for the break NOW Rafa, PLEASE

ed251137 , 6/1/13 4:46 PM

I feel Rafa is being a touch too conservative, he is not going for the DTL shots which are guaranteed winners........but it's all level, so okay....

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 4:49 PM

Rafaelo, I know what you mean but trust me its more agonising having a tv sat right in front of you and you dunno how to work it. I've been trying for the last hour to get it going, depressing

rafakid , 6/1/13 4:49 PM

See, he should have won the set with that forehand but it went long. Yesterday also he should have won the match on a forehand but it sailed long....

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 4:51 PM

Rafa's play on set and break points has been a joke. Not a single ball on FH or BH past the service box.

willmw101 , 6/1/13 4:53 PM

Rafa just needs to go for his shot at brkpt to oput the Fog under pressure but he is sooooooooo passive!!! Losing so many brkpnts.........Serena would have won that set already!!!

Monalysa , 6/1/13 4:55 PM

Why is Rafa being so defensive, is it nerves?

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 4:56 PM

rafakid where are you from?

rafaelo , 6/1/13 4:56 PM

No killer intensity at all at the moment. Rafa should have won this set and instead its now 0-30 at 5-5... Dont understand it.

willmw101 , 6/1/13 4:57 PM

Fognini breaks...........

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 4:59 PM

This is such a joke. Doesn't even look like rafa wants to win at RG this year. So so loose on break point down and so so bad when he has break points himself. Awful.

willmw101 , 6/1/13 5:00 PM

first set gone

rafaelo , 6/1/13 5:00 PM

What the hell is Nadal doing??

willmw101 , 6/1/13 5:01 PM

Off to make a carrot cake :-(

ed251137 , 6/1/13 5:01 PM

I dont know what is wrong with rafa at the moment. Whatever it is, its hurting me ..stop sprinkling salt on my wounds ! dont bash poor rafa so much, he must be feeling PATHETIC, this is the tournament he OWNS its his baby !

vamosrafa , 6/1/13 5:02 PM

into the breaker! but i don't have much hope!

rafaelo , 6/1/13 5:04 PM

...and i'm off to watch CNN...NOT! come on guys, its just the 1st set. have a little faith.

Vamos Rafa!

phoenix , 6/1/13 5:06 PM

vamosssss Rafa. YOU ARE THE BEST. A true fan is the one who stands by the player in difficult times, not the one who bashes at every single mistake. Rafa has already exceeded all the expectations after his returan. he is not a machine. Whether he wins this RG or not I am/will be with you Rafaa. Vamosssssss

gr8nadal , 6/1/13 5:09 PM

Rafaelo, I'm originally from Ireland but working in England. Where are you from?

rafakid , 6/1/13 5:13 PM

phoenix , 6/1/13 5:15 PM

*** return

gr8nadal , 6/1/13 5:16 PM

A rock.

Conspirator , 6/1/13 5:17 PM

Is it OK to go back to the tele?

ed251137 , 6/1/13 5:17 PM

Come back ed251137, I am a wreck...........

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 5:19 PM

aha! I thought you have difficulties in free information traffic like my country! I'm from Iran ;)

rafaelo , 6/1/13 5:22 PM

Rafa has finally reversed the trend a won the 1st set!!!

Monalysa , 6/1/13 5:22 PM

He is still not being offensive enough, needs to SUBDUE the Fog......

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 5:24 PM

I think Nadals poor form may be a combination of physical tiredness and nervousness. I really feel like as mentally tough as nadal is, he is still human and very much thrives on momentum/confidence. Its like watching a car without brakes go down a hill. If it hits a few bumps at the start it has a lot of trouble getting enough speed again. But if its going super fast, little can stop it. If you've ever seen nadal on a roll at RG, once he straight set destroys good opponents - he becomes invincible in later rounds.

I feel like for nadal to get competitive he has to destroy his 4th/QF opponents - any less and hes in trouble.

DeadManWalking , 6/1/13 5:25 PM

hehe, just watch ladies, you are too al nervous...COLM down.

Vamossss rafffaaaa vamoooossss my freaking cow !!! hahahahha

Raindrops , 6/1/13 5:26 PM

The Fog is swearing he should be fined

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 5:31 PM

Foggy overplayed in that first set and is going to run out of gas.

ed251137 , 6/1/13 5:33 PM

Did anyone watch the 2nd round rome masters when nad beat fog 6-1, 6-3? Was nadal playing better or was fog playing bad?

DeadManWalking , 6/1/13 5:36 PM

I'm really tired of this tactic everybody use against him over and over again! inside out forehand to his forehand and point!

rafaelo , 6/1/13 5:37 PM

Hasn't rafa learnt that he cant return in the service box when he has break point!!

willmw101 , 6/1/13 5:37 PM

@DMW, Rafa played okay but the Fog was not as aggressive and as focussed as he is today.

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 5:37 PM

5 BP's wasted. So strange seeing Rafa like this.

willmw101 , 6/1/13 5:39 PM

Uncle Toni is looking very, very unhappy......

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 5:39 PM

Rafa is mad out!!!

Raindrops , 6/1/13 5:43 PM

"I'm really tired of this tactic everybody use against him over and over again! inside out forehand to his forehand and point!".........................exactly, dont know why Rafa cant see this!!!!

Monalysa , 6/1/13 5:44 PM

Is anyone else surprised that the Fog hasnt run out of gas after giving it his all in that 1st set? He is still putting up a fight. Oh i miss the good old days when Rafa used to bagel these players on clay. It now feels like a forgotten memory or a dream. :(

dejan1989 , 6/1/13 5:44 PM

Can somebody explain this to me: Rafa's grunting has a lot of exertion but the ball does not appear to have much torque, is the spin really eating up all the torque?

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 5:46 PM

i told you so...he breaks....CONSOLIDATE !!!

Vamos !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Raindrops , 6/1/13 5:47 PM

RT @TennisReporters: "It's amazing how badly Nadal can play and still win sets. Fognini outplayed him and still lost 1st in breaker. #erratic"

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 5:48 PM

Rafa, hurry, hurry, wrap this up!!!! I cant wiat to hear what Rafa has to say about his game taady in the pressor!!!!

Monalysa , 6/1/13 5:49 PM

consolidation COMPLETE.

Raindrops , 6/1/13 5:50 PM

Mats Wanker has to be the biggest know-all of all time - and at his worst commentating at RG :-(((

ed251137 , 6/1/13 5:51 PM

I'm from Vulcan.

Conspirator , 6/1/13 5:53 PM

Mats Wanker is just another federatti fanboy.

Conspirator , 6/1/13 5:56 PM

Keep losing my lifestream. So back to live scoring. With luck Gasquet will wrap up his match and my TV channel will switch to Chartrier.

ed251137 , 6/1/13 5:58 PM

Raindrops , 6/1/13 5:58 PM

Rafa, please can you serve the set out WITHOUT DRAMA????

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 6:01 PM 54371.html

Raindrops , 6/1/13 6:02 PM

no he can't!

rafaelo , 6/1/13 6:03 PM

2 sets to love Rafa. Now can the Fog just throw in the towel, I am begging him?????

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 6:09 PM

Raindrops , 6/1/13 6:09 PM

Not sure how Rafa is doing it, but he is!!!

I think this is simply a rouse by Rafa to make others believe he is not in good form....................wink, wink!!!

Monalysa , 6/1/13 6:10 PM

Rafa's playing better. Depth and power of his backhand at the tail end of that set was amazing. VAMOS, this match could be a turning point.

willmw101 , 6/1/13 6:10 PM

First game brilliance. Nadal playing a lot more loosely. Good depth and no UE.

DeadManWalking , 6/1/13 6:14 PM

Raindrops , 6/1/13 6:14 PM

Geez, Mats doesn't like Rafa at all does he?

samprallica , 6/1/13 6:16 PM

Raindrops. Thanks a lot. It worked!! Will bookmark this link for the future but right now French Eurosport has gone to the Rafa match.

ed251137 , 6/1/13 6:16 PM

Wilander hates nadal, listen to his commentary of Nadal Federer at AO 2012, its a joke.

willmw101 , 6/1/13 6:18 PM

This is really encouraging from nadal. Shows hes not actually tired, but its all mental. Once his depth and shots get in, he gets incredible confidence.

DeadManWalking , 6/1/13 6:19 PM

Raindrops , 6/1/13 6:19 PM

Rafa's getting better!!!! This could be a huge third set from rafa in term of confidence.

willmw101 , 6/1/13 6:20 PM

@samprallica, the Fed machine is getting frustrated that Rafa isn't being put away in spite of his obvious lackluster play to date...............

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 6:20 PM

Raindrops are you high? :D we are suffering and you are enjoying? :))

rafaelo , 6/1/13 6:21 PM

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 6:20 PM

Yeah i know you can have your favourites, but to say Fognini is almost as good as Rafa and should be thinking along the lines " I don't know how you won 7 French" is just ridiculous.

samprallica , 6/1/13 6:22 PM

Well he wouldn't would he? He only has 3 RG titles. lol. I thought commies were meant to at least sound impartial!

ed251137 , 6/1/13 6:23 PM

rafa's forehand starting to click. Looks happier as well.

willmw101 , 6/1/13 6:23 PM

Feel almost sorry for Foggy - that swagger of his looks a lot less swashbuckling now.

ed251137 , 6/1/13 6:26 PM

Wilander should be asking: if the Fog is as good as Rafa, why hasn't HE won 7 RGs?

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 6:26 PM

And all that is being said Rafa is still winning...................and THATS what frustrates then the most!!! And even worst, as bad as Rafa is playing if he is to meet Roger, he would still beat him!!

Monalysa , 6/1/13 6:28 PM

Raindrops , 6/1/13 6:30 PM

Hope nadal gets a few more really strong forehand and backhand winners in this last set, thats what gives him confidence. Also when his one two punch is working, you know his confidence is high. Then he will have chances late in RG, no?

DeadManWalking , 6/1/13 6:30 PM

Raindrops , 6/1/13 6:35 PM

Monalysa, 6/1/13 6:10 PM

I got shot down in flames for suggesting that during Rome. lol.

ed251137 , 6/1/13 6:37 PM

Thats what you get when some players get to play tow days in a row while some others get to sit and watch TV or go siteseeing!!! After all the tennis Rafa has played and the rubbish schedule he has had here, he is probalbly tired!!!

Monalysa , 6/1/13 6:40 PM

Rafa has 2 breaks, right?

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 6:40 PM

It's hard not to like Foggy. He's a colourful character.

Oh Rafa. How could you balls up serving for the match

ed251137 , 6/1/13 6:41 PM

Broken at love serving for the match.

Conspirator , 6/1/13 6:42 PM

Great Rafa had two breaks, got broken at love serving for the match!!! Boy Rafa is struggling!!

Monalysa , 6/1/13 6:42 PM

vAMOS !!!!

Raindrops , 6/1/13 6:46 PM

So I wake up and there's no Rafa on tv! This is crazy. I am following the score online and also the comments here.

The network has coverage on weekends, but they are showing something else. This is insane!

So it appears that Rafa still has the serving for the match blues. I can only hope that at some point I will get to see this match.

Nativenewyorker , 6/1/13 6:48 PM

Tough day at the office for Rafa, but I'll take it......GSM Rafa. Vamos!!

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 6:50 PM

Rafa get a little lax when he was serving for the match at 5-3.

At least he closed the match with love.

Vamos Rafa!!!!

Raindrops , 6/1/13 6:51 PM

Vamos Rafa, so please go home now and rest!!!! I suspect you need it!!!....smh!!!

Monalysa , 6/1/13 6:52 PM

As bad as Rafa has been playing, it's funny that all I can do is laugh outa sheer boredom! Not been able to watch the match so I'm constantly refreshing livescore on my iPod and the worst thing is I had a feeling fog would break back! Rafa's gotta be wrecked...cus he was playing awesome leading upto RG! In my honest opinion right now, this isn't gonna end well for Rafa

rafakid , 6/1/13 6:52 PM

Fabio played great and Rafa still not at his best. Fatigue could be a factor because Rafa has played a lot since his comeback, making 8 finals since February. It's just as well Rafa pulled out of Miami, it would have been too much.

Contrary to popular belief the crowd were cheering for Rafa.

#Vamos Rafa

nadline , 6/1/13 6:53 PM

So the network here in the states showed the end of Rafa's match. I guess my only hope of seeing it is on the tennis channel later.

At least Rafa did it in straight sets! It sounds like he is till having some problems, but I hope that he will get better.

Nativenewyorker , 6/1/13 6:53 PM

at one point, the commentator mentioned that RG is a cementary where everybody got buried by Rafa. haha hilarious.

Raindrops , 6/1/13 6:58 PM

I don't think Fabio played all that well. At times he did but Rafa got out of jail on quite a few UEs. Rafa had a lot of UEs himself. Like to know the final count.

This is Rafa's first major in a year and he's playing tight because of it. The weather and scheduling hasn't helped.

Sunny and dry forecast in the second week which will definitely pay dividends for Rafa.

I think he'll turn it around.

Conspirator , 6/1/13 7:02 PM

Vamos!! I am happy that Rafa won through I would have preferred a smoother passage. Lets just hope that he is healthy. He has to lose at RG at some stage. One match at a time :)

vmk1 , 6/1/13 7:07 PM

So lot of ucomplimentary comments about Rafas play.

Not sure what to make of it. Looks like 2011 RG repetaed all over again

His play in 1st 4 rounds there too was pathetic, he kinda turned it around in QF against Sodering and sustained it against Andy and Fed in SF, F

sanju , 6/1/13 7:13 PM

with this djoko I really wish rafa won't get to the semi! I hate those celebration after he beats my beloved rafa!

rafaelo , 6/1/13 7:15 PM

Agreed nadline. The French crowd have been very respectful to Rafa so far.
Wish I could say the same for the tournament officials.

Conspirator , 6/1/13 7:16 PM

@ sanju,
Lets hope he is able to run it around in week two!!!

Vamos, Champ!!!

Monalysa , 6/1/13 7:17 PM

I hate those celebration after he beats my beloved rafa!

Dont assume rafaelo, Djoko has to play n beat him on the court

rafaelo - Im sure u got a mini panic attack today :-)

sanju , 6/1/13 7:18 PM

I was going to say the same thing, @Conspirator, about this being Rafa's first Slam since Wimby, a long time.................

Kei Nishikori should give him some rhythm, oops, did I say the same thing about the Fog?

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 7:19 PM

I just didn't watch after a set and a half ;)

rafaelo , 6/1/13 7:20 PM

Vamoooooos, Rafa!!! You made my day!

Augustina08 , 6/1/13 7:20 PM

RITB, courts should have more time to dry out which will help keep the spin on the ball keeping it high to his opponents.

Conspirator , 6/1/13 7:23 PM

I didnt watch entire match though I could..haha

I didnt even c he score..I went for a walk, had dinner , saw sum TV n slowly peeked here after 3 hours..haha

Yes RITB you did..but Kei is not as lax as Fabio..

sanju , 6/1/13 7:24 PM

grigor disappoints me!

rafaelo , 6/1/13 7:28 PM

grigor disappoints me!

rafaelo , 6/1/13 7:30 PM

I think it is about Rafa playing his first slam in a year. A slam is nothing like the Masters tournaments or any others for that matter. So I am not surprised that he seems to be struggling with his form and confidence.

Nishikori can be a tough opponent but again this is best three out of five. If the weather warms up then it should help Rafa.

I also don't think this is 2011 RG all over again. We didn't know what was going on with Rafa at that time. He never seemed to be the same after that virus at the beginning of the year. He seemed to have some kind of mental burnout. There wasn't an injury issue and Rafa hadn't been off for seven months.

This year the circumstances are very different. Rafa didn't play at the AO, came back in February to play in clay court tournaments and the I/W and then took another month off. Then he came back for the clay court season. The weather has been a nightmare, the scheduling even worse.

I believe that Rafa can still find his best form.

Nativenewyorker , 6/1/13 7:38 PM

rafa is way worse than 2011, waaaaay worse!

rafaelo , 6/1/13 7:42 PM

Look at these match stats:

1st serve in: 78% and 67%
1st serve points won: 64% and 55%
2nd serve points won: 61% and 60%
Net points won: 15/20 (75%) and 17/31 (55%)
Break points won: 5/18 (28%) and 3/11 (27%)
Winners: 24 and 47
UEs: 40 and 59
Total points won: 122 and 111

When I look at these stats I do not see how Wilander can say the Fog was playing better than Rafa. Rafa was not at his best, these stats say so but the Fog's are no better.

Those break point opportunities, Rafa...................

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 7:44 PM

@ Rafaelo, we'll see!!!!

Dimi is playing rubbish!!!

Monalysa , 6/1/13 7:47 PM

NNY sure he will put everthing what he can do. I am not bothered at all as long as he's winning and that's fine with me because their target is always been Rafa and they study how to defeat him that's why the 6-0, 6-0, 6-1 score are no longer visible as they learnt how to strengthen their backhands to match up the topspin forehand of Rafa.

Raindrops , 6/1/13 7:50 PM

Seriously guys u expect Dimi to beat Djoko..wont happen

sanju , 6/1/13 7:51 PM

I really had counted on grigor!

rafaelo , 6/1/13 7:52 PM

I didnt count on him to beat Novak, but Fognini played much much better!!!! Make a match of it!!!

Monalysa , 6/1/13 7:56 PM

Dmitrov all set to lose in straights

sanju , 6/1/13 7:58 PM

I think federero is from Switzerland not Iran.

Conspirator , 6/1/13 8:01 PM

Even Haas another guy who beat Djoo and can trouble him all set to lose after blowing like 10-15 match points

sanju , 6/1/13 8:01 PM

rafaelo , 6/1/13 8:04 PM

@ sanju, think Haas has turned it around!!!

Monalysa , 6/1/13 8:05 PM

I really didn't except this from you rafa fans!

rafaelo , 6/1/13 8:07 PM

@ Rafaelo

Yes Haas blew it in a tie break!!!! I think Haas was thinking I cant do this marathon tiebreak again like in Wimby!!!

Monalysa , 6/1/13 8:09 PM

As lucky would say, please read more carefully.

I wonder if they use exclamation marks in Iran or know what the English phrase getting high means.

Conspirator , 6/1/13 8:10 PM

I really didn't except this from you rafa fans!
, 6/1/13 8:07 PM

what happened rafaelo?

sanju , 6/1/13 8:11 PM

Mona..He had like 7-8 match points..whats point of expending energy to play 14-15 games more

sanju , 6/1/13 8:13 PM

@ Conspirator! no I don't know what they mean?!

rafaelo , 6/1/13 8:15 PM

RITB..Stan beats Jerzy.

sanju , 6/1/13 8:27 PM

anything of rafa's presser?

rafaelo , 6/1/13 8:30 PM

Haas finally beats Isner

sanju , 6/1/13 8:30 PM

Yes, here you go...

Conspirator , 6/1/13 8:39 PM

haaaaaan:D now I got it :Dsorry my bad ;)

rafaelo , 6/1/13 8:43 PM

@sanju, yes I saw that. Very surprised, I thought Stan was still suffering from his thigh problem and Jerzy would capitalise......

Tha Rafa train chuggs on........Nishi on Monday!!!

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 9:02 PM

Managed to watch most of the last set. I have to say that apart from the win I didn't like Rafa's game at all. He seriously needs to pick it up now....
Djoko was dead solid against a self-destructing Dimi today... scary prospect!

Shireling , 6/1/13 9:11 PM

RITB..Stan will be tough but Jerzy would have been tougher for Rafa as he has never played him earlier

sanju , 6/1/13 9:19 PM

Isner has just broken another record, the most break-points saved = 12 :)
Isner = Record man (although this time he lost)

Shireling , 6/1/13 9:19 PM

What Conspirator meant was that you're a Fed fan not a Nadal fan. That's why he called you federero. PDFFT means please don't feed f*****g trolls.

chr18 , 6/1/13 9:20 PM

The way he's playing, anybody will be tough for Rafa

Shireling , 6/1/13 9:21 PM

sanju, I'm colm now, no worries. The first week is always the most dangerous in Slams, you have all these young hopefuls wanting to make a name for themselves by scalping a big name so they come on court like Brands, Klizan and even Fognini at times today hitting crazy shots.........

In the second week, it's more relaxed because the players who make it to these late rounds are experienced so they do not take crazy risks, so they play with rhythm, strategy, tactics and colm, better for Rafa! On Monday, expect Rafa to be calmer. He will beat Nishi and then Reeshad or Wawa will be good preparation for the real Final........

C'mon Rafa!!

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 9:25 PM

Rafaelo, a Fed fan?!!!....nope!!!

Does anyone know what Rafa said in his pressor?

Monalysa , 6/1/13 9:25 PM

Some quotes of Rafa press confrence via @imanenour "this first week has been very, very hard. I missed rhythm and it asks me big efforts to find rhythm again.
I'll have to accelerate in the second week, for sure I could play better I stay positive and accept the challenges.
In the last set, I played better. But yesterday and the first round, I was not comfortable.
Tomorrow I finally have a day off. I will be able to practise. Even if I don't play well, I go on.
Hard match and my best match so far but that doesn't mean I played well. It is difficult to control the ball when it is windy in Roland Garros centre court. Nadal: "I 'm not dellusional if I'm not better quickly, I would go back to fishing in Mallorca.
I often feel anxious in Paris, some years ago i felt even worse than this season.
My movements on court should be reviewed as well when i'm 100% , I can beat anyone; in this moment, I am suffering, I accept it and I expect to get better.
My problem is not physical or tactical; Anyway; I know I still have time to adjust it.
It is difficult to define precisely my shortcomings This is not a particular thing, but rather the problem of anxiety.
In the next round, then, after this training I'm waiting, I may have more positive thoughts.
I have to find back my sensations in training in order to transpose them during matches.
I do not play well, I make mistakes I need to work more in my rest time. Otherwise I will have no chance...
Nishikori is unpredictable. If I play better than today, I will not have a problem but I'm not playing my best..
Tomorrow, I finally have a day off to try to fix different things before facing Nishikori.
Today I didn't feel good on court. I didn't serve very well. For him it's good, because on second serve he can be aggressive every time. I didn't play good, and for him it was easy.

rafaelo , 6/1/13 9:27 PM

we've said it so many times, the reason why we love our Rafa is because of his hard working, always improving, never give up attitude.
Other than that, when things are not clicking, despite winning most of his matches, it's just painful to see him being pushed from corner to corner by almost every opponent he meets. We wish he would make his life (and ours) a little easier.. is it so difficult to be aggressive? why is it so unnatural for him to do so?

Shireling , 6/1/13 9:28 PM

Thanks @rafaelo.........

Vamos Rafa!! We suffer with you................

Next stop, Nishi......

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 9:33 PM

Thx rafaelo!
If his problems are neither physical (relief) or tactical but rather caused by anxiety then he needs to find the way to isolate it and focus. There is no fire in him in this RG, we saw it almost at 100 % in the 1st set against Fed in Rome.. so where did this anxiety come from?

Shireling , 6/1/13 9:35 PM

Don't worry Rafans. Rafa knows he is not playing well, the important thing is he is still in the tournament. He will find a solution. They don't call him Mr. Sunday for nothing. He will be there for Exhibition Sunday...........

Rafa is not ready to go fishing in Mallorca yet....................

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 9:36 PM

@Shireling, it's anxiety born of fear of failure, fear of flaming out in the 1st week. Did you see his shot selection in the Fogna match? I have never seen Rafa hit so many defensive middle court shots as today, he did not want to make a mistake and ended up being defensive.

This is his 1st slam in 12 months (forget the Wimby abortion), he is afraid of failing. Uncle Toni has his work cut out for him, he needs to inspire him out of this funk. Where is Xisca?

He wlll be liberated on Monday, trust me!

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 9:42 PM

perhaps you're right.
Thx for being so positive, it's quite encouraging!
I fear that this anxiety has more to do with Djokovic than anything else. Although at the beginning of the 2nd set tie-break against Brands there were red dials flashing all over the place...
Normally, having won the tight first set today he would have demolished the Fog, that's the way to clear away anxiety (and the Fog). That's why I think his fears come from not being able to make the shot that counts whereas before this didn't happen.

Shireling , 6/1/13 9:49 PM

It's not complicated. I said that RG would be a real test for Rafa. He hasn't played a slam in a year. It's entirely different from Masters tournaments. So now he has doubts and anxiety. This is something that only Rafa can overcome. Better weather and scheduling will help, more practice time. But it's just hard to play in a slam after missing two of them and going out early at Wimbledon last year.

We have heard Rafa say at press conferences in the past that if he doesn't play better then he will be fishing in Mallorca. We know that Rafa hates to lose. That is what motivates him. In the 2011 RG, it took facing Sod again in the quarterfinals for Rafa to find his game.

I still believe that Rafa will get it together and find his best game.

Nativenewyorker , 6/1/13 9:51 PM

rafaelo, I don't suppose you can provide a link to those words from nadal can you.

Conspirator , 6/1/13 9:53 PM

Folks, Please remember Wimby 2010 and RG2011. Rafa didnt play well first 3/4 rounds, yet won.

The issue most of us are finding difficult to comprehend how Rafa who hit great form in Rome Semis and Final suddenly has started playing with no intensity/depth.Its huge difference in level in 1 week.

Also he played 4 sets yesterday and 3 today, lets cut him some slack for today..back to back in GS never easy

sanju , 6/1/13 9:54 PM

@ Conspirator what is your problem???!!!
I got this from a rafa fanpage on fb! 32821?hc_location=stream

rafaelo , 6/1/13 9:57 PM

lol sanju, you're right.
Here I am complaining about Rafa's lack of form when he's won in straight sets into the last 16 round :)
Vamossss Rafa!

Shireling , 6/1/13 9:57 PM

Djokovic's match was an hour shorter ....

Shireling , 6/1/13 10:01 PM

We are stressing way too much I think

Conspirator..Dont trouble rafaelo and pull his leg :-)

sanju , 6/1/13 10:03 PM

I dunno I have a bad bad feeling about nisikori! Very fit player who's goin to have nadal going from side to side of court! Rafa's looking tired and he's playing so far back from the baseline to protect the knee! Hope I'm wrong...I'm dreaming of a Novak shock defeat

rafakid , 6/1/13 10:03 PM

Hear, hear, @nny! Totally agree. Also did you notice something today? Rafa played his most aggressive and best shots when he was facing break points. Fogna had a worse BP conversion rate than Rafa! Even the commies remarked that it's almost as if Rafa wants to feel he is against the wall and then brings out his best....................

This is why I strongly believe this is the anxiety of "going fishing in Mallorca" that has been troubling him and in a way it has become a self-fulfilling prophecy, Rafa now can see the abyss: he is playing badly, if he does not improve he is going fishing. But he brought on this bad play himself with his anxiety!

Ladies and gentlemen, Rafa NEEDS to feel he is against the wall to produce his best, so his worst fears are not realised i.e. going fishing mid tournament.

@Shireling, I respectfully disagree with you. Rafa's anxieties are not driven from external forces i.e. Djokovic, they are internally driven i.e. fear of failure. It is this fear which will make him scale the heights......

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 10:05 PM

the shock defeat would be Rafa's given his history at RG

Shireling , 6/1/13 10:05 PM

It would. And also would the number 1 seed before the semis! Wishful thinking shireling

rafakid , 6/1/13 10:08 PM

I, in turn, also respectfully disagree with you.
One thing is that Rafa plays some of his best tennis when against the wall.. yes, he often does and another very different thing is to say that he looks to put himself in such situations because this is what he needs to play well.... I'm pretty sure Rafa would prefer to blow away his opponents left and right as he used to .... IMHO

Shireling , 6/1/13 10:10 PM

Shireling , 6/1/13 10:01 PM

Did you watch the Novak/Baby Fed match? Baby Fed did not show up, instead we were treated to Baby Shankalot! Novak was bored to death out there, no wonder the match was short!

My worry is that Nishikori has spent an hour less on court, total, than Rafa. Rafa will need to be super aggressive, finish the points early, no long baseline rallies because Nishi may outlast him.................

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 10:11 PM

I did watch Novak/Dimi but gave my son the remote half way into the 2nd set so he could watch the Disney channel.... there was just no match.. must have been thinking of Sharapova..
Incidentally, he did look a lot like Fed today with all that shanking ;)

Shireling , 6/1/13 10:14 PM

Shireling , 6/1/13 10:10 PM

My apologies, I did not express myself well, let me try again: Rafa does not intentionally spin himself into an anxiety web, he finds himself in this anxiety web out of fear of losing. The fear of losing becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. He does not want to be anxious but ends up being anxious anyway. This hightened sense of anxiety is where he is now, his back against the wall, this is when he will come out fighting.........

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 10:18 PM

You can't control anxiety

rafakid , 6/1/13 10:19 PM

@rafakid, seriously? Hmmm......................I need to think more about that, I am sure one can.......

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 10:22 PM

You can't control anxiety
, 6/1/13 10:19 PM

Ofcourse you can. Heard about breathing techniques, yoga?

sanju , 6/1/13 10:25 PM

No I mean like I agree with you when you say "Rafa does not intentionally.....he finds himself...out of fear of losing" I find it interesting in the presses how he's always felt like this here at RG cus he has so much on the line and so much to defend! U also find it reassuring when he says he's felt worse here or with more pressure and anxiety! This obviously being 2011 when his back was against the wall, playing much worse than now IMHO and Novak looking really strong

rafakid , 6/1/13 10:26 PM

@rafaelo, 6/1/13 9:57 PM

Just ignore Conspirator. She's just here to cause trouble.

chr18 , 6/1/13 10:27 PM

For one to control anxiety, it would be a simple case of giving up or not caring anymore! And that's not Rafa as we know :) with so much on the line I think the past 6/8 tournaments are irrelevant in the sense of Rafa playing with freedom and not being anxious! I understand that the conditions have been slow but Rafa is playing a little tight...some strokes of his BH and even FH have been hit short

rafakid , 6/1/13 10:31 PM

And think about it folks..Most of us here on the board are crapping bricks and getting anxiety attacks fearing what will happen to Rafa, if he loses , will he lose etc..and are not able to control it, how are we so dismissive of Rafas anxieties. Finally his anxieties are real and he is in control of them himself because is linked to his confidence and game.

Our anxieties are just based on speculation here about what Rafa must be thinking, going through?

sanju , 6/1/13 10:31 PM

ah well... I will try to get anxious and enjoy Sunday... talk to you guys on Monday, hope Rafa does well and gets into the last 8 round.
Like always, greatly enjoyed the exchanges with the Rafans. So long!

Shireling , 6/1/13 10:37 PM

Yeh I suppose so, it is just speculation! I just hope he can hit the ground running in week 2! Novak to be fair to him is really focused, he's done we'll to turn this around after a poor few tournaments by his standards! Baby fed was poor but Novak did what was necessary

rafakid , 6/1/13 10:40 PM

Cheers, Shireling, Rafa will be fine!!

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 10:41 PM

@rafaelo, nomally I don't care about nadal fans' battles with each other, but you seem to be a very decent sort, so I'll join chr18, by saying ignore that Hydra, conspirator, her other self willmw, and her thousand other monikers. She is just a nutso whs is locked up all day behind bars and her only entertainment is the computer, which she uses to fantasize about men's bpdy parts and dream of things that could be, if only whe could get her hands on a live/well functioning male body part. I guess you get my drift.

All that said, ignore the ignoramus coz decency and normalcy is something foreign to her. Can you belieive that there are some on this forum who find her to be creative, and humorous, which helps them through rough times? The day I find that I've lost touch with reality enough to let such a moron appear to be humorous to me, is the day I'll chack myself into Bellevue or creedmor.Just itnore the moron.

scoretracker , 6/1/13 11:07 PM

chr18, here is what you posted on TT regarding Rafa:

"I never called him gay. I said I was relieved to hear that he had a girlfriend and therefore wasn't gay."

Why were you personally relieved to hear Rafa therefore was not gay? Why are you an admitted homophobe, chr18? Why do you have so much hate in you?

BTW, 1st indication that you are a fedbot is when Dr10-20 comes to your rescue.

Conspirator , 6/1/13 11:10 PM

I usually do not reference Bodo, but his RR on Rafa's match makes interesting reading and is on point, I think:

" Afterward, Nadal was admirably frank and thoughtful in his presser. He basically admitted that he?s been a bundle of nerves, without really saying why?could it be because he?s gunning for an unprecedented eighth title at Roland Garros? Addressing the areas he feels he needs to improve, Nadal said:

?Is difficult to say?forehand, backhand, serve. I think is a question of calm down a little bit myself, play a little bit more relaxed, play with a little bit more confidence. Because what make me think that I am playing with a little bit of anxiety is that my movements are not being enough well, you know, and my movements normally are fantastic.

?So the only reason why that?s happening is because I am not playing with the right calm during the whole match. It?s not a physical thing. You cannot lose your physical performance in two weeks.?

The interesting thing that ought to kindle hope in the Nadal camp is that he?s being realistic and, in admitting so freely to his anxieties, courageous. He isn?t holding his cards lose to his vest and allowing his doubts to eat away at his insides. He almost appears to be challenging himself in public to overcome what ails him, and that?s the bold move of a man who knows what he has to do?and to hail with the rest of it.

Nadal also made a pointed reference to his complaints about the weather delays and his inability to get practice time yesterday, suggesting that he?s been denied the tonic he?s found most helpful for shedding his anxieties and shortcomings. ?Finally tomorrow I have a day off for practice because I didn?t have the chance on Thursday. So tomorrow after a few days I have another day to prepare well, to try to change a few things that I need, and that?s it.

?The positive thing is that I played very well last couple of weeks. Is not a moment that I didn?t play well for two months or three months. So just try to change a little bit the dynamic of my game, and play with a little bit more intensity with my legs. But to play more aggressive, I have to calm down a little bit more myself and play more relaxed and less anxious in my movements.?

One thing the near future isn?t going to bring Nadal?s way is a player anywhere near as disruptive or anxiety-inducing as Fognini?both Benoit Paire and ace-monster Jerzy Janowicz lost today. The skies suddenly look clear for Nadal, which is just the way he likes them.

rafaisthebest , 6/1/13 11:34 PM

ritb, thanks for that. Those are words from Rafa. Very honest, candid and intelligent.

It's interesting. His physical game is back but, this being his 1st major since his layoff, his mental game has dropped.

It's almost as if he now has the mental fragility that Nole had pre-2011.

In his book he said he doesn't believe in sports psychology but he could use it now!!!

Conspirator , 6/1/13 11:57 PM

ritb, meant to add thanks because, like you, I NEVER read Bodo and skipped the link when I saw it posted on twitter.

Stinks that the tournament sites no longer post full pressers.

Conspirator , 6/2/13 12:02 AM

@6/1/13 11:10 PM
Since you are an admitted homosexual, why were you not offended (certainly you did not speak out) at jean's use of the derogatory inflammatory language she used to describe people of your sexual persuasion? I have never used such language on this site.

chr18 , 6/2/13 12:39 AM

rafakid , 6/2/13 1:17 AM

You have proof of that chr18?

I backed up my claim with your own words. You are just avoiding my question

Conspirator , 6/2/13 1:17 AM

I don't normally bother to read Bodo anymore, so I appreciate ritb posting that link. However, I don't really need Bodo to tell me about Rafa. He said it himself. He's telling us what the problem is and because he's so honest about his game and where he's at I totally believe him.

I am not surprised that he's going through this now that he is in his first slam in a year. It's got to product anxiety. Rafa is human, not a machine. The fact that he has an awareness of what is going on with himself is extremely important. At least then you know what's going on and can try to deal with it.

I also didn't realize that apparently practices are a source of not only preparation, but confidence building for Rafa. He let us know that, too. Hopefully now that he will have a day to practice and work on his game and get more comfortable, he can start to relax.

Rafa played worse in 2011. Does anyone remember that first match with Isner where Rafa was down two sets to one? No one would want Isner for a first round match, but nobody also thought that Rafa would have that much trouble with him. Then there was Andujar who had done precisely nothing of note prior to that time. Yet Rafa was down 5-1 to this guy and had to fight to come back and win the set. So he did come perilously close to dropping a set to Andujar. Rafa didn't even play that well against Ljuby in the fourth round. I remember discussing it with some Rafa fans on another site. Some of them thought he was about 50% or 60% and were wondering how he was going to face Sod. Well, we all know how that turned out!

On a final note I just wanted to say hello to sienna who seems to have found a way to grace us with her presence yet again - @ 1:01AM! What is the old saying, if you put lipstick on a pig it's still a pig! LOL!

Nativenewyorker , 6/2/13 1:27 AM

What's more you cant make a silk purse out of a pig's ear.

ed251137 , 6/2/13 2:27 AM

Good one! :)

Nativenewyorker , 6/2/13 2:46 AM

bwhahahaha, I see someone is on a fishing expedition again. Immediately a new poster comes on this site and starts dishing it out to some, by putting them in their place, and saying what some of us should say to the vermin who pretend they know about tennis, that poster automatically becomes a poster who's posted here previously. I suppose things have somewhat quieted down, but that's not something the flame thrower likes to see happening. She misses the dirt along with the fang sensation of sinking them there fangs deep/smack in the middle of her victims, and voila, a war begins, that gets the adrenaline rushing to new heights, it's war, war, complete with frothing 'n foaming.

When the three new Fed/djoker fans began posting, they automatically became torres9, me, and a few other Fed posters who've called it a day. Now seventeen, who is dishing it out to conspirator, and giving her back tit for tat, is now sienna.

Again, why is it that such trivialities matter? Why does a poster changing his/her name (which is just a fishing expedition embarked upon by the drama queen, and probably far from the truth in this instance, just like it was in the case of the new djoker fans ) this busy body who can't see the trees from the forest, have got to make a big ado out of nothing? Nothing to do and all day to do it in.

To begin with it's none of the DR's business, as along as the new poster meets the criteria for posting, and (2) if it were a Nadal fan, none of this would be queried., but all they have to say "i'm a nadal fan, and I'm new to this site." there there emerges 20 welcome signs.

Here, we have this looney tune connie/hydra/ her buddy/willmw, who is busy distorting other genuine posters' monikers and writing whatever crap amuses her (d which her budies find to be OK and amusing), but on the other hand, a new poster, seventeen, whose only fault is defending her player, but the busy-body, DR, has to get into her smear campaign mode and get down and dirty. BTW, the pig analogy is so very appropos to the drama queen, coz regardless of how much she tries she'll always remain Miss Piggy, whose domain is deep down in the mire, slurp, slurp, slurp. bwahahahaha.

@seventeen, don't let the bullies trample you down. It's their misssion, as was stated recently, that nothing would please DR more than to rid this site of some posters. i suppose it's some sort of ethnic cleansing campaign that's been on-going somewhat silently, but now with new moronic posters such as connie/willmw and the hydra, it's no longer silent but done without and qualms. Good luck to DR.

Yeah, silk purses are not made from a sow's ear, but some here try very hard to do so especially when they climb up on their broken-down podium. I suppose the weed-cleaner is still potent?

scoretracker , 6/2/13 3:00 AM

Too much to read but that looks like quite the serious MELTDOWN.

Could you have your secretary provide an exectutive summary, scrottracker?

Conspirator , 6/2/13 3:12 AM

I agree with NNY and others that seventeen is Sienna. A pity this site is being used by these trolls. But we can develop the habit of looking at the poster's name before reading the post. seventeen..skip. Any posts of the many headed Hydra... skip. If we do not even read their garbage, we won't be tempted to respond.

holdserve , 6/2/13 4:16 AM

I have never used such language on this site.
chr18, 6/2/13 12:39 AM

As always, what a massive liar. You've used foul language yourself, including repeatedly referring to the poster 'homos' as homo. Filthy homophobic liar of a fedtard! Go police your fellow fedtard seventeen-20 for its filthy language but naturally I see you conveniently ignore its posts. Birds of a feather, I've said it numerous times. Certain types of players attract certain types of fans, and this is why Federina has filthy, disgusting fans.

jean , 6/2/13 4:44 AM

@holdserve, and who is conspirator, willmw, novakisthebitch, Novaksuckmydic, scrotetracker, Scrotracker, and all the other filthy named posters that are being conjured up by connie/willmw? Any guess? Isn't it a pity that this site is being used by trolls and like connie and chatrooms by nny, ed and her other friends?

I thought you of all people would be above such double standards. I respect you for your ability to call a spade a spade with respect to posters not players.

I do not always agree with what you write, but I think you are a cut above the rest of the class of low IQ such as DQ NNy who encourages filth from posters like conspirator and those who are her cohorts like ed, who harass others for just the fun of it.

scoretracker , 6/2/13 5:18 AM

If Rafa does not step it up against Nishikori, then I fear for the worst.

atul1985 , 6/2/13 5:48 AM

Scoretracker/Chr 18:

As ts38 mentioned, these rafatards cannot tell a tennis-court from their own a-hole. Do not expect logic/reason from this scum. Things are only going to get worse with the rafa-numb-nuts as rafa's results get worse as his decline gathers momentum. His best shot at playing atleast till he is 30 is to sit out a huge chunk of the season, preferably the grass/fast hard courts/indoor season like he did last year [a repeating pattern in his career]

novakisthebest , 6/2/13 6:28 AM

holdserve, 6/2/13 4:16 AM,

Thanks for this. I felt that you were intelligent and aware enough to see the reality of what is happening. We have been through this before so it's not hard to spot it when a so-called "new" poster starts saying the exact same things that we have heard in the past.

Nativenewyorker , 6/2/13 7:56 AM

So let me understand this: chr18 and scoretracker are CONCERNED ABOUT AND FOR rafaelo, a Rafan. These are the same scoretracker and chr18 who HATE Rafael Nadal, right? Now, rafaelo idolises the same Rafael Nadal these 2 hate. But they cannot stand to see rafaelo, a Rafan, being "abused" by another Rafan??? So, like the knights in shining armour that they are, they rush to rafaelo's rescue!

Well, well the worm has really turned. I never thought I would live to see the day self-professed Rafa-haters rush to the rescue of ...........a Rafan!

Please gallant knights, do not forget to tell rafaelo what you really think of her idol before you whisk her onto your white horses and ride off!

rafaisthebest , 6/2/13 8:27 AM

"If I want to have any chance, I really need to play better," Nadal admitted afterwards. "But it's always the same story. When you win without playing your best, you have the chance to play better. If you don't fight when you have tough days or negative days, then you don't have all the chances for the future."

The above quote from Rafa sums up Rafa, imho.

Vamos Champion!!

rafaisthebest , 6/2/13 8:41 AM

@rafaisthebest, 6/2/13 8:27 AM ,
Find a comment written by me that shows or states I hate Nadal. I'd like to see it. I've many a time stated I don't dislike him, but his fans are another thing. Don't go making up stories, coz you are the last that should talk, especially considering all the many, many nasty stuff you can't help posting on Fed,. on this site and elsewhere. Not to mention how much you suck up every tiny bit of twitter news you can find to post on Nadal. You are OTT with Nadal obsession and can't let his racket/tennis do the talking for him, coz you are his self-appointed spokesperson through twitter. You'd make a good good assistant in the sensationalism department. I suppose Chr18 and my attempts to be kind to Rafaelo is something foreign to you, coz you'd never extend such kindness to a Fed fan. Instead, you can't let the opportunity pass by wherein you have the opportunity to degrade him to degrade Roger, so how about cutting the BS and stick to what you do best, degradation. FYI, there are some of us who considers each and every one a person who is deserving of some encouraging words. You like to talk a lot and sermonize as to your wonderful qualities, how about leaving it for others to do that for you? It will be much more effective.

scoretracker , 6/2/13 11:23 AM

Hope rafaelo is comfortable on that white horse!

rafaisthebest , 6/2/13 11:30 AM

After reading a few of the last comments there is one thing that I noticed: people hate Rafael Nadal, in general. There's people that love Rafa, and then there's everybody else (haters). Fed's fans are mad because their idol would have had maybe 25 slams to his name if it weren't for Nadal. I guess the all time record of 17 isn't enough. Nobody cares about your arguing and name calling, especially not the players... I really hope you realize that.

childishgambino , 6/2/13 11:31 AM

Find a comment written by me that shows or states I hate Nadal. I'd like to see it. I've many a time stated I don't dislike him, but his fans are another thing.
scoretracker , 6/2/13 11:23 AM

There you have it, in black and white, @rafaelo. Caveat emptor!

rafaisthebest , 6/2/13 11:33 AM

And also, some of the posters here seem to be mentally ill. So i advice you to seek help. Because when Nadal beats both Djokovic and Federer to grab his 8th RG, people's lives will be at risk. Such an outcome could prove lethally frustrating...

childishgambino , 6/2/13 11:34 AM

There's people that love Rafa, and then there's everybody else (haters).
childishgambino , 6/2/13 11:31 AM

I guess the ones that say, "I have nothing against Rafa, just his fans I cannot stand!" fall into the last category!

It's such fun being a Rafan......................

It's funny watching grown people (at least I assume they are) melting down, on the internet, because a nice young man from Mallorca is being successful in his chosen craft!

rafaisthebest , 6/2/13 11:41 AM

"We have been through this before so it's not hard to spot it when a so-called "new" poster starts saying the exact same things that we have heard in the past."
Nativenewyorker, 6/2/13 7:56 AM

Yeah, you are the same person who said I was torres9 and many other posters you assigned to the Fed/Djoker posters also. You should refrain from such thinking coz you don't possess the skills necessary to piece facts together to come up with a single intelligent and/or tangibe fact. It took about 4 people to give their reasons why we are not the same, before you shut up, especially when a bee was unlucky to have found itself under your bonet. poor little creatures.
And, where's this law that states once a poster leaves the site due to your harassment it's a crime to return? I wanna see it.

scoretracker , 6/2/13 11:43 AM

NNY show him the law already. Maybe it will shut it up...

childishgambino , 6/2/13 11:45 AM

LOL, if saying to someone who is stating that Fed fans hate Rafa and I reply I don't dislike him that makes me a hater?

I'm a lot less f a hater than you are, coz never a day goes by without you looking for something to blacken Fed's name or other players. Everyone else is imperfect except for your dear Rafa. Anyway, enough said.

@childish, yes let's see the law. I jst love it when the band of renown gets together. Nothing as melodious as such. LOL.

scoretracker , 6/2/13 12:11 PM

You will realise soon enough that @scoretracker means no harm, a nuisance, yes, but means no real harm. Nobody hates or dislikes him on here. TT would not be TT without the odd, and predictable, scoretracker meltdown to entertain us, so cut him some slack, he is a TT institution, tolerated with affection.

rafaisthebest , 6/2/13 12:20 PM

NNY has the law. I don't.

childishgambino , 6/2/13 12:21 PM

I'm not even sweating it... there is something that bothers me though. How can someone believe that it's possible for Federer's name to be "blackened"? He is the greatest player of all time, most elegant and never, not once, has he been controversial. So, as a Fed fan it's most definitely not about that. It's just about the frustration of seeing a tennis prodigy show up at the worst time possible for maybe the greatest man to ever play the sport. We all know it, Fed's fans know it, but they always try and make it about something else because they feel shame for their idol and somehow try to compensate it with words. Nobody cares.

childishgambino , 6/2/13 12:27 PM

Spot on. Nothing further needed.

rafaisthebest , 6/2/13 12:35 PM

It's a bit of a letdown when on the odd occasion S/T confines herself to talking about tennis.

ed251137 , 6/2/13 12:37 PM

Which is maybe about 1 in 12 of her comments.

ed251137 , 6/2/13 12:40 PM

I am sure rafaelo is smart and intelligent enough to figure out for himself whose advise to take and I am sure he is intelligent to decide for himelf too without advise :-)

sanju , 6/2/13 12:56 PM

, 6/2/13 11:34 AM

Hi childish, reason for such high confidence? Anything you c?

sanju , 6/2/13 12:57 PM

My goodness, Ferru did Ferru just school Anderson?? I said right from the beginning he will be in the final and boy, is he justifying my faith so far!!

Vamos Ferru!!

rafaisthebest , 6/2/13 1:02 PM

because Nadal is the most "clutch" player in tennis. And if you're his fan, you know he's getting the job done, as he has over and over again when it meant something to him. I get my high confidence from having watched Nadal play tennis since '05.

childishgambino , 6/2/13 1:20 PM

Daveed is on fire.

Sadly I doubt Tommy has anything left after the marathon against Monfils to make this match competitve against Almagro.

ed251137 , 6/2/13 1:24 PM

Ferrer steamrolled Anderson...the Fed must be trembling with fear by now. :-)

phoenix , 6/2/13 1:25 PM

I hink Tsonga is tougher for Fed than Ferrer.

I dont think Ferru believes he can take the other 3 out in a SLAM

sanju , 6/2/13 2:00 PM

in the past yes, not in this RG...

phoenix , 6/2/13 3:11 PM

wow so many guys so confident of Ferrer

sanju , 6/2/13 3:21 PM

SO many Scoretracker meltdowns!! She's so funny and definitely oddly appreciated on TT, if also pitied a bit. Keep em coming!

willmw101 , 6/2/13 3:47 PM

"As ts38 mentioned, these rafatards cannot tell a tennis-court from their own a-hole. "

LOL! where did he say that? That's so true with these grannies. I doubt anyone even plays tennis.

JamesDjokovicFan , 6/2/13 4:33 PM

Anderson was just awful. His serve was off and he just kept feeding Ferrer balls to retrieve. From the first few games, they were just going through the motions. Ferru beating Anderson has no impact on Ferrer playing Fed or Tsonga................none.

nadline , 6/2/13 5:04 PM

What a match Robredo played once more!!!!!!!!!!!

childishgambino , 6/2/13 5:06 PM

James@4.33 PM So why dont you tell us about your prowess at tennis. Maybe you are S/T's practice partner.

ed251137 , 6/2/13 5:16 PM

Funny all the fartbots have all incorporated Nole's name in their monikers.

Ed I didn't read what the Fedtard said but...

Conspirator , 6/2/13 5:24 PM

tell me where you want to play a tennis match and I will be there to give you a good old [no offense meant] thrashing. i will even allow you to choose the only surface your fave is good at. i will even wager a few grand, if you are not just a chicken like the remaining rafafarts!

JamesDjokovicFan , 6/2/13 5:28 PM

You're right Conspirator. Got carried away ;-)

ed251137 , 6/2/13 5:31 PM

Conspirator , 6/2/13 5:54 PM

James stop lying to yourself. You have never/nor were ever able to play tennis, you are a senile old weirdo with an obsession for being offensive on tennis forums, nothing else. Get a grip on life.

If you can actually play show us your rating/profile/club W-L history etc. Nope wasn't holding out a great amount of hope that you'd actually have ever picked up a racquet.

willmw101 , 6/2/13 6:07 PM

RafafartED has been given the offer. I guess granny doesn't know how to play tennis. It must be one of the creatures KMA mentioned that scratch their undies watching the proctologist! KTSP!

I bet crappyrator, crapserve and CBM yapper are the same too. Let me know guys, will be willing to kick your behind on a tennis court any day. I will give you a concession connors gave navratilova - you can hit into a doubles court, i will have a singles court to hit on your side. Oh, connors beat martina losing less than 8 games. I doubt you KTSP droolers will even win 5 games from me.

JamesDjokovicFan , 6/2/13 7:46 PM

LOL! As expected, none of the grannies are upto JDF's offer? The sport would be a lot better if useless people like them with no 1st hand experience of the game just shut their traps and leave the tennis talk to people who know the game.

The problem is most of them choose to watch tennis for the wrong reasons like so and so looks like a good piece of meat - much like losers who think sharapova is a better player than serena because they spend their lives lonely and miserable.

Fedkovic23 , 6/2/13 9:02 PM

I'll play

childishgambino , 6/2/13 10:57 PM

Jesus Christ, these "kovic" posters are retarded...!!!

childishgambino , 6/2/13 10:59 PM

You are just picking up on that? It didn't take you long to see what everyone else hear has known since they first invaded this site.

Pretty obvious aren't they!

Nativenewyorker , 6/2/13 11:15 PM

I guess I've always known :))

childishgambino , 6/2/13 11:38 PM

James didn't think you'd be able to come up with the goods, disappointing but predictable.

willmw101 , 6/2/13 11:40 PM

You noticed that! All these trolls do is open their big mouths and pretend to be something that they are not and will never be. Just wannabes. This is the only way they can feel better. Trash other people while hiding behind anonymous screen names.

Sometimes their silence speaks louder than their ugly words!

Nativenewyorker , 6/3/13 2:44 AM

@`11:38PM, childish suits you. BTW, where have you morphed from? never seen you here, or are you another of conspirator's creations.

NNY, weren't you just complaining aboujt other posters being so bad, and look at you on here, spouting off your hatred for those posters who aren't sucing up to you. In addition to connie you now have childish. take it away gals, and help her make it through the night. She needs someone to watch over her before she hrts herself . Poor babay, she who knows everyone's life is a waste but has forgotten to look in the mirror.

The new posters had to have read all about you before posting here, and it seems some of them know you for your madness on T-x. Funny ou know everything that happens on there, yet you claim you don't go there, as though it's gonna bite you., but rest assured they'd never do that coz YOU'RE THE TROLL ALL TROLL LOOK UP TO. As in the Borg, collective minds, you're the higher mind. Control, control, controller.

scoretracker , 6/3/13 4:42 AM

The fact of the matter is these fedtards are using the forums to deal with their issues of a fed who cannot get the better of Rafa - never could in his prime and certainly can't in his 'old age'. They've always hated Rafa for owning Fed. Now, there is absolutely no doubt that Fed has minimal chance each time he faces Rafa so what are their options? Pretend to be Nole fans because they have to pin all their hopes on Nole to take Rafa out. First crap20 thought Sod could do it, even composing 'poems' for Sod, than relying Delpo and subsequently on Rosol. It's pretty obvious - "we'll back ANYONE who can take Rafa out".

They're not Nole fans, regardless of how much they try to convince anyone. They are simply pathetic foul Fedtards, and every Rafa and Nole fan here are intelligent enough to see it. Only problem is, it's an insult to the genuine Nole fans on this site like Zare, etc.

Regardless, I'll keep enjoy the entertaining meltdowns while it lasts, though a few do appear to be in crucial need of professional help....LMAO at them!

jean , 6/3/13 4:45 AM

Be happy Rafans, for the trolls it takes resorting to clutches of Fed + Djoko together to put down Rafa. Pity Pity!! Just 1 cant do :-)

I am amazed at the insecurities, issues and cowardness of people in this world. Real Sad!!

sanju , 6/3/13 5:41 AM

you have never seen me here, or am I one of conspirator's creations???? It makes a lot of sense...

I'm not the kind to go on forums, especially not ones about sports, but I've made an exception because I have been following tennistalk for quite a while, and I thought maybe I could contribute...

I thought I'd begin by accepting a challenge from a fellow member...
