• Wawrinka and Dolgopolov clash in Rome second round

    5/15/13 3:30 AM | Cheryl Murray
Wawrinka and Dolgopolov clash in Rome second round Madrid finalist Stanislas Wawrinka will take on Alexandr Dolgopolov for a spot in the Rome third round.

Stanislas Wawrinka has had a fantastic clay season, with a quarterfinal in Monte Carlo, the title in Oeiras and the final in Madrid. But all of that tennis seems to have taken its toll on the Swiss man, who looked a bit weary in his first round match against Carlos Berlocq on Monday.

His opponent is the Ukraine's Alexandr Dolgopolov, ranked 23 in the world. Wawrinka is ranked much higher, sitting at No. 10, but Dolgopolov will have his chances at the upset due to Wawrinka's possible fatigue.

The two men have met just twice before, splitting the wins at a set a piece. Wawrinka won their last meeting, a straight-set beatdown at the US Open last year, but Dolgopolov won their only meeting on clay, also in straight sets.

Prediction - Dolgopolov for the upset.
