Del Potro faces Paire in third round World No. 7 Juan Martin Del Potro looks to extend his run at the Masters 1000 Rome with a victory over France's Benoit Paire. The winner moves on to face either Marcel Granollers or Jeremy Chardy in the quarterfinal.

World No. 7 Juan Martin Del Potro made a successful start to the tournament, ousting Russian qualifier Andrey Kuznetsov in straight sets. The 24-year-old Argentine converted three of six break points en route to a 6-3, 6-2 victory.

Del Potro is seeking his second quarterfinal berth at the Masters 1000 Rome.

World No. 36 Benoit Paire is through to the round of 16 after rallying to defeat compatriot Julien Benneteau in three sets. The 24-year-old Frenchman needed more than two-and-a-half hours to seal the second-round victory, 6-7(3), 6-4, 7-6(4).

Paire will attempt to make his first quarterfinal at the Masters 1000 Rome.

oh my, Benoit has come out to play, currently leads with a break in the 1st set.....

Why is Delpo targetting Benoit's back-hand? Doesn't he know that is his strong side and his forehand is bad?

If he can learn to control his emotions on court, Paire is shaping up to be a very complete player. Hoping to see him do well if for no better reason than to prove what a prat Llodra was for calling him out at Miami.

Delpo looking rather sluggish ATM. I swear he is going way over the 25 secs.

If Delpo loses this match he should ask the Pope to return his racket! You expect a return on a bribe, no?

Delpo is all over the place today. I know he has been ill but...................

DelPo is usually sluggish, like a big sloth, specially between the points.

Danica: some years ago I heard a TV commentator (forget who) describe Dell Boy as walking around the court looking as though he had just trekked on foot across the Arizona desert and back. Such an apt description :-D
