Dolgopolov kicks off Rome against wildcard Viola Alexandr Dolgopolov will attempt to pick up the pieces in Rome, after a disappointing first-round loss in Madrid.

The clay season hasn't been particularly kind to Alexandr Dolgopolov. The Ukrainian's best result on the European dirt was a quarterfinal showing in Munich, but that still meant just a pair of wins.

Dolgopolov is ranked No. 23 in the world, a 10-place drop since his career best last January. He lost his first round match at the Madrid Masters to Dutchman Robin Haase.

He should have an easier time of it in Rome, however. Dolgopolov will take on an Italian wildcard, Matteo viola, ranked 130th in the world.

viola is exactly 1-3 on the main tour so far this year, with his single win coming in Rotterdam. Despite Dolgopolov's issues with form at the moment, he should have more than enough to get the win on Sunday.
