    Tsonga, Melzer meet in round of 16 World No. 8 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga looks to reach the quarterfinal at the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters, as he takes the court against Austria's Jurgen Melzer early Thursday. The players are set to meet for the first time since 2008.

    World No. 8 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga holds a 2-0 series lead against world No. 36 Jurgen Melzer. The two will be meeting for the first time since the 2008 tournament in Bangkok.

    Tsonga is through to the round of 16 after defeating former world No. 3 Nikolay Davydenko in straight sets. The Frenchman tallied seven aces and three service breaks through an hour and 27 minutes of play. Tsonga is seeking his second consecutive quarterfinal at the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters.

    Melzer made the third round following his 6-4, 6-2 ousting of 10th seed Nicolas Almagro. The veteran held nine consecutive service games through an hour and 14 minutes of play. Melzer will attempt to reach his second quarterfinal in Monte-Carlo.
