Murray opens Monte-Carlo bid on Wednesday World No. 2 Andy Murray is set to highlight Wednesday play at the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters, as he takes the court against France's Edouard Roger-Vasselin. The players will be looking to secure a spot among the final 16.

World No. 2 Andy Murray holds a 1-0 series edge against world No. 81 Edouard Roger-Vasselin, having won their only previous meeting at the 2012 Australian Open. Wednesday marks their first match on clay.

Murray returns to competition after sealing a title-winning run at the Masters 1000 Miami. The 25-year-old Scot is seeking his 20th victory of the season. He will be making his seventh appearance at the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters, where he reached the final four in 2009 and 2011.

“It’s a tough draw,” Murray explained. “It always is here. At the Masters 1000s, where you have the smaller draws, there’s not many easy matches.”

Roger-Vasselin is through to the second round after defeating Dutchman Robin Haase in straight sets. The 29-year-old Frenchman will attempt to make his first round of 16 in Monte-Carlo.

    Prediction: Murray in straight sets.
