Almagro, Isner battle for Houston title Top seed Nicolas Almagro looks to win his first title at the US Men's Clay Court Championship, as he takes the court against fifth seed John Isner. The players are scheduled to contest their third career match on Sunday.

Top seed Nicolas Almagro holds a 2-0 series advantage over fifth seed John Isner. The two last met during the 2012 Davis Cup semifinal, where the Spaniard recorded a victory in five sets.

Almagro made the championship final after defeating American wildcard Rhyne williams in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. The 27-year-old Spaniard converted five of 8 break points through an hour of play.

“I think I played better than yesterday. I felt good today,” Almagro commented. “I'm very happy with my game. I tried to be focused all the time. That's important for me. I tried to play aggressive and I did it.”

Almagro is seeking his 13th ATP World Tour title on Sunday.

Isner is through following his come-from-behind victory over defending champion Juan Monaco. The former finalist dropped the first set before rallying to win in three, 1-6, 6-4, 6-4.

He is seeking his 6th career ATP World Tour championship title.

Way to go Big John! First clay title ever beating Monaco and Almurgo, clay courters. Massive!

There's your Great Hope to unseat Rafa at RG, imagine if Rafa really had a knee injury, and not faking it like he is doing it now, what this would do to John's chances?

rafaisthebest , 4/14/13 10:53 PM

Isner has no chance of winning at RG. Don't be silly.

Wow, nicely done! Who would have thought Isner would have so much more trouble beating Jack Sock than he did beating Almagro?

And above is yet another example of how some people think everything and everyone is about them and their player...all the time. Losers.

Now you understand what we have to do to preempt your own silliness........

Now sit back and enjoy Rafa's MC coronation.
