Del Potro, Haas battle in round of 16 World No. 7 Juan Martin Del Potro looks to make the final eight at the BNP Paribas Open, as he takes the court against 19th seed Tommy Haas. The players are slated to contest their fourth career meeting on Wednesday.

World No. 7 Juan Martin Del Potro holds a 3-0 series lead over world No. 19 Tommy Haas. The two last met at the 2012 Masters 1000 Cincinnati, where a second-round match went to the Argentine in straight sets. The German is 0-6 in sets contested against Del Potro since their first encounter in 2008.

Del Potro is through to the fourth round following his straight-set dismissal of Germany's Bjorn Phau. The 24-year-old struck 14 aces en route to a 6-2, 7-5, 94-minute victory.

Del Potro is bidding for his fourth consecutive quarterfinal of the season.

Haas advanced to the round of 16 after edging 11th seed Nicolas Almagro in a third-set tie-break. The 34-year-old veteran looks to make his first BNP Paribas Open quarterfinal since 2008 (lost to Federer).

Prediction: Del Potro in straight sets.
