    Del Potro closing in on fourth round World No. 7 Juan Martin Del Potro is back on court to face Germany's Bjorn Phau for a place in the BNP Paribas Open round of 16. The winner moves on to meet either world No. 3 Andy Murray or veteran Yen-Hsun Lu.

    World No. 7 Juan Martin Del Potro is through to the third round following his straight-set ousting of former World No. 3 Nikolay Davydenko. The 24-year-old Argentine trailed by a service break in both sets, but fought back to win in 79 minutes, 6-3, 6-4.

    Del Potro is bidding for his fourth consecutive round of 16 at the Masters 1000 Indian Wells.

    World No. 121 Bjorn Phau advanced to the third round following his upset victory over 25th seed Jeremy Chardy. The 33-year-old German came through the match in an hour and 42 minutes, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.

    Phau will attempt to reach his first round of 16 at the BNP Paribas Open.

    Prediction: Del Potro in straight sets.
