Ferrer takes on Odesnik, Almagro battles Robredo Top seed David Ferrer will take on qualifier Wayne Odesnik as the second round kicks off in Acapulco. Ferrer's countrymen will also be in action as Nicolas Almagro battles veteran Tommy Robredo.

David Ferrer (1) vs. Wayne Odesnik

This will be the first meeting between David Ferrer and Wayne Odesnik. Ferrer is having a spectacular start to the 2013 season. He has a pair of titles, including one last week in Buenos Aires. His record is now 18-2 and he is the defending champion.

By contrast, Wayne Odesnik hasn't even qualified for a main tour event until this week. His best result at the Bucaramanga Challenger, where he reached the final back in January.

Ferrer is the superior player on every level and the Acapulco event has historically proven successful. Anything other than a straight-set win would be a shock.

Nicolas Almagro (3) vs. Tiommy Robredo (PR)

Tommy Robredo, ranked 79 in the world, had an encouraging result in Buenos Aires last week. The Spaniard, who spent the first half of the 2012 season out with a left thigh injury, reached the semifinals where he lost to eventual champion David Ferrer.

Nicolas Almagro, the No. 12 player in the world, has racked up a healthy 9-3 record on the season so far. Though he has no titles, the No. 3 seed had a good run to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, where he lost to Ferrer.

Almagro owns a 4-0 advantage over Tommy Robredo, with wins coming on hard and clay courts. And though Robredo seems to be enjoying good form at the moment, Almagro should be poised to make it 5-0. The No. 3 seed in straight sets.
