Del Potro, Tsonga highlight Tuesday play in Dubai Tournament seed Juan Martin Del Potro will begin his run at the tournament with a first-round match against Marcos Baghdatis. The Argentine is joined in action by 5th seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who faces compatriot Michael Llodra.

    (4) Juan Martin Del Potro vs. Marcos Baghdatis

World No. 7 Juan Martin Del Potro trails world No. 36 Marcos Baghdatis 2-1 in the series, having lost two straight hard-court matches in Australia.

Del Potro makes his return to competition after reaching the quarterfinal in Marseilles. The 24-year-old Argentine is 8-2 for the season following a title-winning run in Rotterdam. Del Potro is set to contest his second Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, where he made the final four in his 2012 debut (lost to Federer).

Baghdatis is back on court following a quarterfinal finish in Rotterdam (lost to Dimitrov). The former world No. 8 is seeking his first Dubai victory since 2010, when he completed a run to the semifinal.

    (5) Jo-Wilfried Tsonga vs. Michael Llodra

World No. 8 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga holds a 6-0 series lead over world No. 67 Michael Llodra. The players last met at the 2013 Australian Open, where the fifth seed won a first-round match in straight sets.

Tsonga enters into the tournament with momentum, having defeated world No. 6 Tomas Berdych for the Marseille title last Sunday. The 27-year-old Frenchman is bidding for his 10th victory of the season.

Llodra looks to rebound after losing a second-round match to Del Potro in Marseilles. The 32-year-old veteran will attempt to record his first win in Dubai late Tuesday.

I always thought that the best player scheduled to play on a certain day would be the highlight of the day. I wonder why DelPo's or Jo's matches would be highlights?
