    Buenos Aires - Ferrer rallies to beat Nalbandian World No. 4 David Ferrer is through to the quarterfinal after rallying to upend former champion David Nalbandian late Thursday. The top seed is joined among the last eight by compatriot Nicolas Almagro, who beat Andrey Kuznetsov.

    (1) David Ferrer def. David Nalbandian 2-6, 6-4, 6-0

    Defending champion David Ferrer advanced to the quarterfinal after rallying to defeat former World No. 3 David Nalbandian Thursday night. The 30-year-old veteran converted four of seven break points through an hour and 32 minutes of play. Ferrer completed the third set with 24 of 29 points won.

    He is scheduled to meet 6th seed Fabio Fognini for a place in the semifinals.

    (2) Nicolas Almagro def. Andrey Kuznetsov 7-6(5), 6-2

    Second seed Nicolas Almagro is through to the final eight after taking out Russia’s Andrey Kuznetsov in straight sets. The 27-year-old Spaniard saved seven of 7 break points en route to a 7-6(5), 6-2 victory in an hour and 24 minutes. The former champion ended the afternoon with 30 of 42 first-service points captured.

    Almagro will take on wildcard Federico Delbonis in the next round. The Argentine defeated veteran Albert Montanes in round two, 6-1, 6-4.
