  • Berdych takes on Anderson in Australian Open round of 16

    1/20/13 6:28 AM | Cheryl Murray
Berdych takes on Anderson in Australian Open round of 16 No. 5 seed Tomas Berdych will take the court against big-serving South African Kevin Anderson as the top half vies for quarterfinal slots.

Tomas Berdych, who is heading toward a possible showdown with Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals, will take on familiar foe Kevin Anderson on Sunday.

The two men met four times, all in 2012; Berdych won every encounter. The closest Anderson got to a win over the Czech was a third round match at Roland Garros, where Anderson took Berdych to 5 sets.

Anderson and Berdych are both pace hitters, but the Czech has far more effective ground strokes. Anderson relies heavily on his big serve to give him the upper hand in a match, but if that shot fails him, he is vulnerable to top players.

Expect a win for the Czech here, with Anderson possibly snagging a set along the way.
