    Tipsarevic takes on Almagro in round of 16 Eighth seed Janko Tipsarevic is back on court to face 10th seed Nicolas Almagro for a spot in the Australian Open quarterfinal. The winner moves on to meet either fourth seed David Ferrer or 16th seed Kei Nishikori.

    World No. 9 Janko Tipsarevic looks to level a 0-1 series deficit against world No. 11 Nicolas Almagro. Sunday signals their first meeting on hard-court.

    Tipsarevic passed into the round of 16 after rallying to dismiss veteran Julien Benneteau in five sets. The 28-year-old struck 48 winners and 13 aces en route to a 3-6, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 win in three hours and 29 minutes.

    Tipsarevic is bidding for his first quarterfinal at the Australian Open.

    Almagro made the fourth round by virtue of his straight-set ousting of 24th seed Jerzy Janowicz. The 10th seed collected 18 aces and 34 winners through to a 7-6(3), 7-6(4), 6-1 success.

    Almagro is seeking his maiden quarterfinal berth in Melbourne.

    Prediction: Tipsarevic in four sets.
