Murray opens Australian Open bid against Haase World No. 3 Andy Murray is set to highlight play at the Australian Open with a first-round match against Dutchman Robin Haase. The two will be contesting their third career contest early Tuesday.

Reigning US Open champion Andy Murray looks to break a 1-1 series tie against World No. 53 Robin Haase. The players last met at the 2011 US Open, where a second-round match went to the Scot in five sets.

Murray enters into the Australian Open with a 4-0 season record after sealing a championship-title run in Brisbane (def. Dimitrov). The 25-year-old is twice a finalist in Melbourne, having advanced to the last match of the tournament in 2010 (lost to Federer) and 2011 (lost to Djokovic).

"He's very talented. I had a tough match with him at the US Open a few years ago," Murray said of Haase. "He likes playing on big courts. He tends to come out firing and goes for big shots, playing extremely aggressive. So I'll need to be prepared for that."

Haase will attempt to rebound following early exits in Chennai and Auckland. The 25-year-old is seeking his first Australian Open victory since 2011.

    Prediction: Murray in straight sets.

Thanks for keeping it brief, muzz. Dominant performance. Apart from going walkabouts at 2 breaks up in set 3 and losing 8 points in a row, muzz very impressive throughout, playing strong, aggressive tennis. 6-3, 6-1, 6-3. Nice start. Glad I stayed up :-)

Nice post-match interview. Interestingly, although he said winning the USO had been his long-term ambition, he also pointed to the Olympics, rather than the USO, as the best experience of his career.
