    Dolgopolov, Monfils meet in first round Eighteenth seed Alexandr Dolgopolov faces a tough challenge in former World No. 7 Gael Monfils late Tuesday. The players are joined in first-round action by 6th seed Juan Martin Del Potro and 12th seed Marin Cilic.

    (6) Juan Martin Del Potro vs. (Q) Adrian Mannarino

    Sixth seed Juan Martin Del Potro will attempt to break a 1-1 series tie with qualifier Adrian Mannarino on Tuesday. The two last met at the 2012 Australian Open, where the Argentine rallied to a four-set victory in the first round.

    Del Potro is seeking his first win of the 2013 season. He will be making his sixth appearance at the Australian Open, where he finished among the final eight in 2009 and 2012.

    Mannarino returns to his first main-draw event since the 2012 French Open, looking to win his second match in Melbourne.

    (12) Marin Cilic vs. Marinko Matosevic

    Twelfth seed Marin Cilic leads world No. 48 Marinko Matosevic 1-0 in the series, having won their only previous meeting at the 2012 US Open.

    Cilic is back on court after reaching the quarterfinal in Chennai (lost to Paire). The 24-year-old is 17-5 at the Australian Open, aided by a semifinal run in 2010 (lost to Murray).

    Matosevic looks to rebound following first-round exits in Brisbane and Sydney. The 27-year-old Australian is bidding for his first victory at the Australian Open.

    (18) Alexandr Dolgopolov vs. Gael Monfils

    Eigtheenth seed Alexandr Dolgopolov opens in Melbourne with a 1-1 season record after making the Brisbane quarterfinal (lost to Nishikori). The world No. 20 is seeking his 10th win at the Grand Slam event.

    Former world No. 7 Gael Monfils is 5-2 for the season following a quarterfinal effort in Doha and a semifinal showing in Auckland (lost to Ferrer). The 26-year-old Frenchman will be making his eighth appearance at the Australian Open.
