    (3) Tommy Haas vs. (WC) Gael Monfils

Third seed Tommy Haas will attempt to break a 1-1 series tie with former world No. 7 Gael Monfils on Thursday. The players are set to meet for the first time since 2008.

Haas is through to the quarterfinal after dismissing Dutchman Igor Sijsling in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. The 34-year-old German is seeking his second semifinal at the Heineken Open, having finished runner-up in his 1999 debut.

Monfils made the final eight by virtue of his 6-4, 6-2 upending of Australian qualifier Greg Jones. The 26-year-old Frenchman is bidding for his first semifinal since September, when he advanced to the last four in Metz.

    (1) David Ferrer vs. Lukas Lacko

World No. 5 David Ferrer holds a 2-0 series advantage over world No. 48 Lukas Lacko. Thursday signals their first meeting on hard-court.

Ferrer reached the quarterfinal after holding on to defeat Chinese Taipei's Yen-Hsun Lu in three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. The defending champion looks to secure his second semifinal in 2013, having advanced to the same stage in Doha (lost to Davydenko).

Lacko is through to the last eight following his straight-sets ousting of 8th seed Thomaz Bellucci, 6-3, 7-5. The 25-year-old Slovakian will attempt to book his first Tour-level semi since early 2012, when he completed a finals run in Zagreb (lost to Youzhny).
