Baghdatis, Dimitrov collide in Brisbane semi Former world No. 8 Marcos Baghdatis will be looking to reach his first Brisbane final on Saturday, set to take on Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov. The winner moves on to face either defending champion Andy Murray or 5th seed Kei Nishikori.

World No. 36 Marcos Baghdatis looks to break a 1-1 series tie with World No. 48 Grigor Dimitrov on Saturday. The players are slated to contest their first hard-court match for a place in the final.

Baghdatis is through to the last four after taking out third seed Gilles Simon in the quarterfinal, 6-3, 6-4. The 27-year-old Cypriot held nine of 10 service games through an hour and 22 minutes of play.

"What I'm focused on is to continue the same rhythm I'm playing with, continue playing matches like that, and finding the consistency that I’ve been looking for the last few years, which I don't have. I think that the title will come once I find that," Baghdatis said.

The former world No. 8 is seeking his first tour final since 2011 in Kuala Lumpur.

Dimitrov advanced to the semifinal by virtue of his straight-set dismissal of 7th seed Jurgen Melzer. The 21-year-old Bulgarian completed the quarterfinal in under an hour, 6-3, 6-2.

"I feel good on these courts here, and the conditions actually suit me," Dimitrov commented. "I'm always looking for the next match, which is always a goal for me after I had two first tough matches. So I was looking really to get on court today and just play some tennis, and of course compose myself and be good."

The world No. 48 will be looking to make his first tour-level final.
