Dolgopolov, Nishikori battle for Brisbane semi Last year's finalist Alexandr Dolgopolov looks to reach the final four as he takes the court against fellow seed Kei Nishikori. The players are joined in Friday's quarterfinal action by 3rd seed Gilles Simon, who takes on Marcos Baghdatis.

    (4) Alexandr Dolgopolov vs. (5) Kei Nishikori

World No. 18 Alexandr Dolgopolov trails world No. 19 Kei Nishikori 0-1 in the series, having lost their only previous meeting at 2011 Masters 1000 Shanghai.

Dolgopolov is through to the quarterfinal after second-round opponent Jarkko Nieminen retired late in the match. The 24-year-old Ukrainian looks to reach his second consecutive semifinal at the Brisbane International.

Nishikori advanced to the final eight by virtue of his straight-sets ousting of former World No. 5 Tommy Robredo. The 23-year-old is seeking his first semifinal since early October, when he sealed a title-winning run in Tokyo.

    (3) Gilles Simon vs. Marcos Baghdatis

Third seed Gilles Simon will attempt to break a 2-2 series tie with former world No. 8 Marcos Baghdatis. The players last met at the 2012 Masters 1000 Paris, where a first-round match went to the Frenchman in straight sets.

Simon made the quarterfinal following a straight-set victory over Colombia's Alejandro Falla. The 28-year-old is bidding for his second consecutive semi in Brisbane.

Baghdatis downed 6th seed Florian Mayer in the second round, 6-4, 6-2. The 27-year-old Cypriot remains on track to book his first Brisbane International semi.
