• Almagro meets Stepanek in possible live 5th rubber

    11/17/12 11:35 PM | Kelli DeMario
Almagro meets Stepanek in possible live 5th rubber Should compatriot David Ferrer level the tie for Spain, world No. 11 Nicolas Almagro will be looking to secure the victory against Radek Stepanek. The Czech leads the Spaniard 2-1 lifetime entering into Sunday's reverse singles.

World No. 11 Nicolas Almagro trails former world No. 8 Radek Stepanek 2-1 in the series. The two last clashed at the 2012 US Open, where the Spaniard recorded a first-round win in four sets.

Almagro narrowly lost his opening singles rubber to world No. 5 Tomas Berdych in five sets. The 27-year-old is seeking his ninth Davis Cup singles victory on Sunday.

Stepanek is back on court after successful pairing with Berdych in doubles. The veteran fell to David Ferrer in singles but recovered to defeat Spain's Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez on Saturday.

"(Almagro) played very well against Tomas but they already had a point in their locker room so he played very freely," Stepanek said. "When it comes to the last rubber it will be a completely different story."
