Del Potro, Tipsarevic face must-win situation The pressure is on both Juan Martin Del Potro and Janko Tipsarevic on Thursday in London. While the winner will level his tournament record at 1-1, the loser will drop to 0-2.

Juan Martin Del Potro and Janko Tipsarevic will be going head-to-head for the fourth time in their careers and the first time this season when they clash during round-robin action at the World Tour Finals on Thursday.

Del Potro has dominated all three of their previous encounters and all three have come on hard courts. They faced each other twice in 2011, with Del Potro rolling 6-4, 6-4 in the Delray Beach final before winning a Davis Cup singles tie in Serbia 7-5, 6-3, 6-4.

Tipsarevic will be hard-pressed to turn the tide in this one because he is stumbling to the finish line of a mostly stellar 2012 campaign. The world No. 9 is 57-26 for the season, but he is a mere 9-7 since the U.S. Open. Tipsarevic retired against Jerzy Janowicz in the Paris quarterfinals and did not play well against Roger Federer on Tuesday, getting handled 6-3, 6-1.

Del Potro, on the other hand, is ending his year in fine form--a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 loss to David Ferrer in his London opener notwithstanding. The seventh-ranked Argentine won back-to-back titles last month in Vienna and Basel, the latter of which featured a triumph over Federer in the final. Del Potro is 63-16 for the season.

Tipsarevic says he is feeling better so his game should improve from what was on display against Janowicz and Federer. Still, head-to-head history and current form are both squarely in his opponent's favor. Del Potro in straight sets is the pick.
