    10/31/12 9:53 PM | Kelli DeMario
Tsonga, Almagro battle in round of 16 World No. 7 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is set to highlight third-round play in Paris Thursday evening. The Frenchman will be in action against Spain's Nicolas Almagro, with the winner moving on to face either David Ferrer or Stanislas Wawrinka.

World No. 7 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga holds a comprehensive 5-0 series advantage over world No. 13 Nicolas Almagro. The players last faced one another at the 2011 Masters 1000 Canada, where the Frenchman recorded a quarterfinal victory in straight sets.

Tsonga advanced to the round of 16 after outlasting compatriot Julien Benneteau in three sets. The 27-year-old Frenchman, who looks to continue his bid for qualification in London, is seeking his 55th victory of the season.

Almagro is through to the third round by virtue of his three-sets ousting of fellow Spaniard Albert Ramos. The 27-year-old will attempt to reach his third consecutive quarterfinal, having made the same stage in Stockholm and Valencia.

    Prediction: Tsonga in straight sets.
