    Ferrer faces Wawrinka in third round Valencia champion David Ferrer is back on court to face fellow seed Stanislas Wawrinka late Thursday. The players are vying for a place among the final eight at the Masters 1000 Paris.

    World No. 5 David Ferrer holds a 5-3 series edge against world No. 17 Stanislas Wawrinka. The two last clashed at the 2012 Masters 1000 Cincinnati, where the Swiss won a second-round match in straight sets.

    Ferrer passed into the round of 16 after defeating fellow Spaniard Marcel Granollers in straight sets. The 30-year-old veteran will be looking to reach his fourth quarterfinal in Paris.

    Wawrinka is through to the third round following his 6-3, 6-2 defeat of Argentina's Carlos Berlocq. The 27-year-old is seeking his first quarterfinal at the Masters 1000 Paris.

    Prediction: Ferrer in three sets.
