• Raonic to wrap up round 1 play on Wednesday

    10/25/12 4:54 PM | Cheryl Murray
Raonic to wrap up round 1 play on Wednesday Canadian Milos Raonic will be the last seed to complete his first round match; he will take on Gilles Muller of Luxembourg.

The No. 8 seed Milos Raonic has played Gilles Muller just one other time. The two men met on the grass courts of Wimbledon in 2011. Muller won that encounter, but he was facing an injured Raonic who only managed to complete five games before retiring due to injury.

Wednesday's match between the two should provide quite a serving spectacle for the fans in Valencia. Both men have monster first serves, though Muller, ranked 63rd in the world, is far less consistent than his Canadian counterpart.

Raonic has had a good year by most standards. The Canadian owns two titles in 2012 and his ranking has generally been on the rise since he hit the big time at the 2011 Australian Open.

Neither player is particularly well known for his return game, but since Valencia's indoor surface isn't slick like the one in Bercy, both guys should get at least a few looks at service breaks.

Prediction - Raonic in straight sets.
