    Tokyo - Nishikori battles Baghdatis for finals berth World No. 17 Kei Nishikori is set for a semifinal clash with former world No. 8 Marcos Baghdatis on Saturday. The players are scheduled to contest their fourth career meeting for a place the Japan Open championship final.

    Eighth seed Kei Nishikori trails World No. 46 Marcos Baghdatis 0-3 in the head-to-head series. The two last met earlier this year in Brisbane, where a round of 16 match went to the Cypriot in straight sets.

    Nishikori advanced to the semifinal by virtue of his straight-sets ousting of second seed Tomas Berdych. The 22-year-old will attempt to secure his first ATP World Tour final since late 2011, when he finished runner-up to world No. 2 Roger Federer in Basel.

    Baghdatis is through to the final four after defeating Russian qualifier Dmitry Tursunov in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. The 27-year-old is seeking his first ATP World Tour finals berth of the season.
