• Querrey and Lopez take the court in Beijing

    10/4/12 4:59 AM | Cheryl Murray
Querrey and Lopez take the court in Beijing Sam Querrey and Feliciano Lopez will be in second-round action on Thursday, as the two men look for quarterfinal spots.

    Andreas Seppi vs. Sam Querrey

Andreas Seppi was a surprise finalist in Metz last week. The Italian eventually lost to Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, but he comes into Beijing in good form.

American Sam Querrey, ranked one spot behind Seppi at No. 26 in the world, has also enjoyed good form of late. The American made the semifinals of Winston-Salem and the third round at the US Open.

Seppi holds a 3-1 head-to-head edge over Querrey, but most of those meetings came on clay, which is Seppi's preferred surface.

Generally, Querrey is the better hard-court player of the two and should have the edge here. Querrey in 3.

    Feliciano Lopez vs. Yen-Hsun Lu

World No. 30 Feliciano Lopez has a 1-0 record over Yen-Hsun Lu. The two men met for the only time on the hard courts of Dubai back in 2011. Lu was forced to retire from that match in the first set.

Lu is ranked 64th in the world, far below Lopez, but the home crowd will be firmly in his corner, which should work in Lu's favor.

Lopez has had a series of mediocre results, including a second-round showing in Kuala Lumpur, where he lost to Igor Sjisling. The Spainard could have difficulty getting past Lu this time around.

    Lu in 3.
