• Ferrer, Monaco in Kuala Lumpur quarterfinal action

Ferrer, Monaco in Kuala Lumpur quarterfinal action Top seed David Ferrer and second seed Juan Monaco will be in action on Friday at the Malaysian Open.

Juan Monaco (2) vs. Vasek Pospisil

Argentina's Juan Monaco and Vasek Pospisil of Canada will meet for the second time in just a few months on Friday in the Kuala Lumpur quarterfinals. The two men met previously at Pospisil's home tournament in Toronto, with Monaco winning in straight sets.

Monaco is not known for his hard-court prowess. The Argentine is a clay-court specialist. But Pospisil, who is ranked 122nd in the world, lacks consistency and while the surface suits his game better, Monaco will have the edge. The Argentine in 2.

David Ferrer (1) vs. Igor Sijsling

Dutchman Igor Sijsling has already run into David Ferrer twice this year. The two men met on grass in s'Hertogenbosch and again on the hard courts of the US Open. Ferrer won both of those encounters in straight sets, though Sijsling took him to a tiebreaker in the third set at Flushing Meadows.

Sijsling is ranked No. 97 in the world. He successfully qualified at the US Open and even won a match before running into Ferrer in the second round.

Prediction - This should be another straight-set victory for Ferrer.

Benneteau & Nishikori could be dangerous in the semis. Hope David & Juan get through to the final.

I can't watch the matches because of the time difference. Maybe I could catch a replay if the tennis channel is covering it.

I am rooting for Ferrer to get through to the final!

Way to go Benny! Great indoor player and he has a chance at a first career title.
