  • Lopez, Davydenko in Kuala Lumpur action

    9/26/12 3:29 AM | Cheryl Murray
Lopez, Davydenko in Kuala Lumpur action Feliciano Lopez and Russian veteran Nikolay Davydenko will take the court on Wednesday at the Malaysia Open.

Nikolay Davydenko vs. Sanam Singh (LL)

Russia's Nikolay Davydenko will take on lucky loser Sanam Singh in his first round match on Wednesday. Singh hails from India, ranked 373 in the world. Davydenko sits at No. 44 in the world and comes into Kuala Lumpur off a good run to the semifinals in Metz, where he lost in 3 sets to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Davydenko is playing relatively well right now. Singh is still ranked low enough that he is forced to qualify for Challenger level events, where he's had moderate success.

Prediction - Davydenko in straight sets.

Feliciano Lopez (5) vs. Lukas Lacko

World No. 32 Feliciano Lopez enjoys playing on quicker hard courts. The Spaniard is no clay court specialist like many of his countrymen. But he will take on another player who enjoys faster surfaces in Lukas Lacko.

Lacko has had a miserable run of tournaments, with the Slovakian failing to win a single match since his third round showing at Wimbledon.

Lopez has fared better than his opponent, with a trio of third round showings in his last four tournaments. The courts in Kuala Lumpur suit his game and with Lacko playing poorly, the Spaniard should advance.
