Good luck to the reigning Olympic Gold Medelist!! Rafa won it 4 years ago, Murray won it this time - such a rare feat couldn't happen to nicer people. Now we need Nole and Delpo amongst the current top players to win that rare singles gold medal because they deserve it, being great players and great people.

Let's Go Andy. Let's Go. :)

Hardly anything separating both the players so far.

abhirf , 9/1/12 9:26 PM

Andy in trouble here, not handling the heat or Deliciano.

deuce , 9/1/12 10:28 PM

Just creeping out from behind the sofa....what the heck happened to Andy in the 3rd set????

deuce , 9/1/12 11:43 PM

horrible. just horrible. don't know where to start, so won't.
it's gonna have to be another year, I'm afraid.

alex , 9/1/12 11:59 PM

alex, think it was a combination of Lopez playing gr8 and Andy not getting his usual heat training in Miami this year because of Olympics.
Also that court benefitted Lopez. Andy doesn't like it, remember Haase gave him all sorts of fits there , same round, same time last year.
Hope the next match is at night but anyway it's meant to be cooler next week. temp was over 100 :0

Looks like Raonic is going to win his match against Blake, if that is the case look out tired Andy Murray.

vmm , 9/2/12 12:55 AM

Dunno, deuce, I was just troubled by muzz going wanders again - 2 sets and a break up, lopez' head was down and he was getting ready for the shower. muzz just kept on going away when it was far, far easier just to win the thing with lopez having such a high ufe count.
raonic looking formidable tonight and if muzz does what he's been doing tonight and in the first round, raonic will just say thanx very much, first time of asking, and do a delpo on him, like just blow him away.
sorry to be so negative, deuce, you'll need to work on me.

I wish that I had seen this match. The network covers the USO on the weekend. They had Serena on and then Fed. Then I had to go out and missed whatever else they showed.

Now the tennis channel is showing the end of the Raonic/Blake match.

I wouldn't get so glum just yet. Andy will have to play better against Raonic. He knows that. I expect him to come out and play much better. So don't lose hope!

Nativenewyorker , 9/2/12 1:46 AM

Long way to go to get his 1st slam. Still needs to up his game. Should have finished it in the 3rd set. Good that he got through it. He should conserve his energy for coming matches. Let's see how he fares up against Raonic.

abhirf , 9/2/12 6:32 AM

Sorry to say, but I don't understand the reasoning for Murray's tough match with Lopez as due to the heat. If I get this correct, that one week after wimbledon, where he played the Olympics, deprived him of his 'heat training' in Miami? Didn't he play in Toronto where is it was hot, then cincy, hot again, and now the USO, which is not nearly as hot as cincy? Hence, with all those weeks of being exposed to the heat, Murray's is still not acclimated to the heat? to reiterate, it makes no sense to me. I'd say that he got more than enough of his heat training between Toronto and cincy. Such is the life of tennis players. Poor david ferrer has not been favored with one night match on Ashe, and he's the No. 4 player.

How about if Murray's problems with Lopez was more attributable to meeting a better player than the two previous very low ranked he played? This is the reason why people shouldn't talk that some players are looking ominous in the early rounds. Any decent top 20 player will look good against a player out of the top 50.
