• Murray takes on lucky loser Chardy in Cincinnati

    8/15/12 11:32 PM | Cheryl Murray
Murray takes on lucky loser Chardy in Cincinnati Andy Murray will take on Jeremy Chardy on round of 16 day at the Cincinnati Masters.

Instead of seeded Andy Roddick or Denis Istomin, Andy Murray will take on the lucky loser Jeremy Chardy, the Frenchman who took both Roddick and Istomin out en route to the third round.

Roddick went out nursing a back injury, but Chardy beat a healthy Istomin to earn a shot at the 2012 Olympic gold medalist.

Murray is no stranger to Chardy. The two men met four times between 2009 and 2011. Murray has won every meeting, including a three-set match here in Cincinnati back in 2010.

Chardy is ranked No. 38 in the world. He was forced to come through qualifying, but he failed to make the main draw. John Isner's withdrawal from the tournament gave the Frenchman a spot. He also made the third round in Toronto last week.

Prediction - Murray should have no trouble getting into the quarterfinals. The Scot in straight sets.

Well played Chardy but absolutely dreadful from Andy: serve awol, so many UEs and looked awful sluggish. Do hope it's just an off day :(

deuce , 8/16/12 9:36 PM

Why is that Andy can't keep his level up for a long period ? He suffers this cycling thing from the start of this career.

Its really a shame, I love when he is on fire. But I hate when he just push the ball like he did today.

Emiliano55 , 8/16/12 9:51 PM

Emiliano55: that's an excellent point but I do think something was extra was wrong today and I'm hoping it was just the heat....but he wasn't pushing up on his serve :(

deuce , 8/16/12 10:17 PM

If Murray's knee is still hurting, it would be the reason he wasn't able to push up on his serve. The knee bend gives a server the strength to push and execute the service delivery.

scoretracker , 8/17/12 2:41 AM

That's what I'm worried about scoretracker :( Also would explain why his movement wasn't gr8. In which case I'm glad he's out and hope he will be OK at USOpen.

deuce , 8/17/12 7:11 AM

Oh so you acknowledge that sore knees do affect your serve do you? Why don't you apply the same principle to everyone?

nadline , 8/17/12 10:19 AM

Because I don't discuss Nadal, or didn't you notice?I don 't need for tons of you descending on me like an avalanche.

scoretracker , 8/17/12 10:55 AM

Take it as gospel, nadline. Some Rafa haters prefer to go after Rafa through his fans. Strange.

rafaisthebest , 8/17/12 11:21 AM

I see Nadalista is venting her anger in a very constructive way on Tennis-x, cursing at the Fed fans.. LOL.Mem is needed to complete the duo.

scoretracker , 8/17/12 11:33 AM

I see @sienna's and @fleur'e friend and regular Tennis-x champion is doing his best to keep both said friends and Fedfan site relevant by bringing both onto discussions on TT..........

rafaisthebest , 8/17/12 11:46 AM

.......Have often wondered who "copies" TT discussions onto THAT site. Now we know.

Long-winded windbag on TT, long-winded windbag on THAT site.............

rafaisthebest , 8/17/12 11:54 AM

Its no surprise to me that Chardy whipped Murray's ass yesterday.
If he can beat Andy Roddick, slam winner & 2002-2207 great,
Then surely Andy M had no chance.

Twinge , 8/17/12 11:55 AM

LOL indeed.....

rafaisthebest , 8/17/12 11:55 AM

^^^OOOppps I meant 2007,
Andy R wont last another year never mind another 2 centuries i fear.

Twinge , 8/17/12 11:59 AM

Twinge, 8/17/12 11:55 AM

Oh Twingey.........that's harsh, no?

rafaisthebest , 8/17/12 12:04 PM

^^^Welcome to my cold hard world ritb.
Anyways i hope Roddick sticks around, he is a great star of the sport although I wonder what he would have tenniswise if he didnt have that serve.
I just get irritated by the blind fools that think he is a better player than Andy M due to his one slam.
I've made my point now i think.
