• Murray begins Toronto bid against Cipolla

    8/8/12 4:35 AM | Cheryl Murray
Murray begins Toronto bid against Cipolla Andy Murray will take to the court for the first time since his gold-medal run in London as he kicks off his 2012 Rogers Cup.

World No. 4 Andy Murray will have had two short days of rest when he takes on Flavio Cipolla of Italy on Wednesday. The singles gold medalist not only contested his final match against Roger Federer on Sunday, he also took to the court in mixed doubles, nabbing the silver with teammate Laura Robson.

With all of the travel and the match fatigue, Murray isn't likely to be at his very best in Toronto. But the Scot should have enough in the tank to get past Cipolla.

The Italian is ranked 97th in the world. He hasn't won more than one match at a time since the Casablanca event in April. Cipolla was knocked out of Washington last week in the first round by eventual champion Alexandr Dolgopolov.

Prediction – Unless Murray is badly jet-lagged or is suffering terrible fatigue, he should advance.

Can't believe Andy is going to do very well in this tournament, but already he has been seen practising with Ivan, shows he must be feeling pretty good.
Next one will be more practise for USOpen.
