  • Djokovic faces Hewitt in Olympics third round

Djokovic faces Hewitt in Olympics third round A quarterfinal spot is at stake as Novak Djokovic and Lleyton Hewitt clash in the Olympics on Wednesday. The winner will go up against either Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or Feliciano Lopez.

Novak Djokovic and Lleyton Hewitt will be squaring off for the seventh time in their careers when they do battle in the third round of the London Olympics on Wednesday.

Djokovic is dominating the head-to-head series 5-1 after prevailing 6-1, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 in round four of this year's Australian Open. Hewitt's lone victory came way back at the 2006 U.S. Open, and Djokovic is 3-0 against the Aussie on grass.

It has already been a strong tournament for Hewitt, who was a modest 8-6 for his 2012 campaign heading into this week. The 31-year-old edged Sergiy Stakhovsky 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 in his opener before upsetting Marin Cilic 6-4, 7-5 on Tuesday.

Djokovic got off to a bit of a rough start in London but he overcame Fabio Fognini 6-7(7), 6-2, 6-2 in a surprisingly difficult first-rounder. The second-ranked Serb promptly woke up and destroyed Andy Roddick 6-2, 6-1 in the second round. Djokovic boasts a 43-7 record for the season and he has reached at least the quarterfinals in all of his tournaments.

Even on grass this will be a baseline battle, and Djokovic is arguably the best baseliner in the world right now. This is not a good matchup for Hewitt, whose Olympic run should end in straight sets.

Has there ever been a more awkward slice backhand than djokovic?? awful technique, wonder who taught him that!? Hewitt serving for the first set.

the final will be between the two best grass court players in the draw, roger vs muzza...may be djokovic proves me wrong but this is what I think!

Incredibly gutzy fight by Hewitt but there was no way Djokovic was going to let him derail him.

That was well done by Rusty.
