Kohlschreiber battles Volandri in Kitzbuhel semifinals Philipp Kohlschreiber is headed to the Olympics this weekend, but he has at least one more match in Kitzbuhel. The German will go up against Filippo Volandri on Friday with a spot in the final at stake.

Philipp Kohlschreiber and Filippo Volandri will be going head-to-head for the second time in their careers when they collide in the semifinals of the bet-at-home Cup on Friday. Their only previous encounter came four years ago on the hard courts of Doha, where Kohlschreiber prevailed 6-4, 6-1.

Clay will give Volandri a good chance. The 99th-ranked Italian has done his best--and only--good work on the surface and this week he has won six sets in a row while taking out Alessandro Giannessi, Albert Ramos, and Rogerio Dutra Silva.

Kohlschreiber's 2012 record has improved to 35-16 thanks to wins over Attila Balazs and Lukas Rosol. The top-seeded German, who earned an opening-round bye, has reached at least the quarterfinals in five consecutive tournaments--including at Wimbledon and most recently in Hamburg.

Based on the surface and the fact that Kohlschreiber is heading to the Olympics, Volandri in three sets is the pick.
