Ferrer faces Almagro for Bastad title Top seed David Ferrer looks to win his second title at the SkiStar Swedish Open, as he squares off against second-seeded compatriot Nicolas Almagro. The players are set to contest their 11th career meeting on Sunday.

World No. 5 David Ferrer holds a comprehensive 10-0 series advantage over world No. 10 Nicolas Almagro. Sunday signals their fifth meeting in a clay-court championship final.

Ferrer advanced to his sixth ATP World Tour final of the season, having ousted Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets. The 30-year-old veteran is seeking his 16th career title Sunday afternoon.

"I have played (Almagro) many times before and I know I will have to run a lot on the court," said the top seed.

Almagro is through to the championship final following his straight-set victory over the Czech Republic’s Jan Hajek. The 26-year-old will attempt to win his second SkiStar Swedish Open on Sunday.

"It will be tough for sure, like every match that we have played. I want to do my best so we are going to fight," Almagro commented.

    Prediction: Ferrer in three sets.

Congrats to David for the win. Nice speech from David and Nico too. David promised to come back next year but mentioned that he didn't know how many more years he has. He's already 30yo now, quite sad to think that soon David may retire. I hope he can play a few more years and wins many more titles, he's such a hardworking man and always looking to improve his game. Vamos David!

will be a dark day in tennis when Ferrer retires

for now, we can enjoy his greatness

Don't think Almugro will be too saddened.

Ricky: I second that sentiment.

Lucky: He is one of the unsung heroes of tennis who has never been rewarded with the glittering prizes but nearly always delivers high quality matches when he meets the bigger boys (in both senses of the word!). He is playing some of the best tennis of his career at the moment and like you I hope he goes out on a high when the time comes.
