Tipsarevic, Nalbandian clash in Wimbledon first round There are a ton of great first-rounders at the All-England Club, but none is bigger than Janko Tipsarevic vs. David Nalbandian. Tipsarevic snagged the No. 8 seed but was dealt no favors by getting one of the most dangerous unseeded players.

Janko Tipsarevic and David Nalbandian will be squaring off for the fourth time in their careers and for the third time this season when they do battle in a blockbuster first-round showdown at Wimbledon on Monday.

Nalbandian leads the head-to-head series 2-1, but they have split their meetings in 2012 and they have never faced each other on grass. Consecutive encounters back in March saw Nalbandian prevail 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in Indian Wells before Tipsarevic got revenge with a 7-5, 6-3 victory in Miami.

Tipsarevic is an outstanding 30-13 for the year. Highlights include a runner-up finish in Chennai, a quarterfinal showing in Miami, and a semifinal performance in Madrid. The eighth-ranked Serb, who is looking for his first Wimbledon quarterfinal, advanced three rounds at the French Open and he is hoping to bounce back from a Queen's Club loss to Yen-Hsun Lu.

Nalbandian, 10 years removed from his Wimbledon final against Lleyton Hewitt, is still going strong at 30. The Argentine is 20-12 for his 2012 campaign after reaching the Queen's Club title match.

Of course, it all went up in smoke for Nalbandian against Marin Cilic. After getting broken in the second set, Nalbandian smashed a board surrounding a linesperson's chair with his food and injured the linesperson. He was defaulted on the spot and lost all ranking points and prize money.

How will Nalbandian bounce back? The good news is that he has to be feeling confident in his game and he has always been a force on faster surfaces. Count on a high-quality thriller, with a slight edge going to Tipsarevic in five sets.
