• Haas takes on Granollers in Halle second round

Haas takes on Granollers in Halle second round Germany's own Tommy Haas resumes his Halle campaign on Thursday. The veteran is battling Marcel Granollers for a place in the quarterfinals.

Tommy Haas and Marcel Granollers will be squaring for the third time in their careers when they do battle in the second round of the Gerry Weber Open on Thursday afternoon.

The head-to-head series is tied up at one apiece, but they have never faced each other on grass. Haas prevailed 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 on the clay courts of Houston in 2009 before Granollers got revenge with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 victory earlier this season in Indian Wells.

Granollers is in fine form, coming off a fourth-round showing at the French Open. The 22nd-ranked Spaniard is an even 11-11 for his 2012 campaign after rolling over qualifier Mischa Zverev in round one.

Haas is also playing stellar tennis, even at 34 years old. The German reached the semifinals in Munich then qualified at Roland Garros and advanced two rounds. Haas, who led Bernard Tomic 5-2 on Monday when Tomic retired, owns a 10-6 record for the year at the ATP level.

This could go either way, but Haas has home-court advantage and grass is more favorable to him than it is to Granollers. Look for Haas to dispatch the No. 6 seed in three sets.
