    Tsonga, Verdasco highlight Sunday action Fifth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will begin his run at the 2012 French Open as he takes to the court against Russia’s Andrey Kuznetsov. The Frenchman is joined by 14th seed Fernando Verdasco, who faces Steve Darcis.

    World No. 5 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga returns to competition after a quarterfinal finish at the Masters 1000 Rome. The 27-year-old Frenchman won a trio of matches before falling to world No. 1 Novak Djokovic in straight sets.

    Tsonga will be making his fifth appearance at the French Open, where he reached the round of 16 on two occasions.

    World No. 156 Andrey Kuznetsov is set to compete in his first French Open, following a successful pass through qualifying rounds. The 21-year-old Russian is bidding for his first victory in a main-draw event this season.

    (14) Fernando Verdasco vs. Steve Darcis

    World No. 16 Fernando Verdasco leads World No. 61 Steve Darcis 1-0 in the series, having won their only previous meeting earlier this season in Barcelona.

    Verdasco is back on court following a second-round defeat to compatriot David Ferrer in Rome. The 28-year-old Spaniard will attempt to win his 20th match of the season.

    Darcis returns to action after a quarterfinal showing in Nice (lost to Almagro). Sunday signals the Belgian’s fifth appearance at the French Open.
