    Almagro closing in on Nice title Third seed Nicolas Almagro looks to complete a successful title defense at the Open de Nice Côte d’Azur as he takes to the court against first-time tour finalist Brian Baker. The players are set to contest their first meeting on Saturday.

    Defending champion Nicolas Almagro reached the Nice final after taking out 2nd seed Gilles Simon in straight sets. The 26-year-old Spaniard needed just 68 minutes to seal the semifinal victory, 6-1, 6-3.

    Almagro is bidding for his 12th ATP World Tour title on Saturday.

    World No. 216 Brian Baker advanced to his first ATP World Tour final, having rallied to upend former World No. 3 Nikolay Davydenko late Friday. The 27-year-old American fell behind a set, then regrouped to take the semifinal in three, 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-2.

    Prediction: Almagro in straight sets.
