Kohlschreiber meets Karlovic at World Team Cup Germany looks to finish off Croatia on Wednesday in Dusseldorf. Taking the court for the host nation is Philipp Kohlschreiber, who will go up against Ivo Karlovic.

Philipp Kohlschreiber and Ivo Karlovic will be squaring off for the third time in their careers when they do battle at the World Team Cup on Wednesday in Dusseldorf.

Karlovic leads the head-to-head series 2-1, but all three of their previous encounters have come on hard courts. They most recently faced each other last year in Doha, where Karlovic prevailed 7-6(5), 6-7(4), 7-6(2). Not a single break of serve took place in Karlovic's two victories and he has broken Kohlschreiber only once in three matchups.

Kohlschreiber is in the midst of a fine season, having compiled a 20-10 record. The 27th-ranked German recently captured a clay-court title in Munich and he is once again doing stellar work on home soil. Kohlschreiber hammered Alex Bogomolov 6-0, 6-2 on Sunday.

Karlovic is a modest 8-9 for the year. The 6'10'' Croat has lost all three of his clay-court matches, to Juan Martin Del Potro in Davis Cup, to Bobby Reynolds in Houston, and to Nikolay Davydenko in Madrid.

Germany, the defending champion, can finish off Croatia with a Kohlschreiber victory. Florian Mayer destroyed Ivan Dodig 6-1, 6-1 on Tuesday as the host country eyes a 2-0 overall round-robin record.
