    Isner faces Davydenko in Nice quarterfinal World No. 11 John Isner looks to reach the final four at the Open de Nice Côte d’Azur, as he squares off against former world No. 3 Nikolay Davydenko. The players are set to contest their career meeting Thursday afternoon.

    (1) John Isner vs. Nikolay Davydenko

    Top seed John Isner will attempt to break a 2-2 series tie with Nikolay Davydenko on Thursday. The Russian won their only previous clay-court meeting in 2008.

    Isner commenced his Open de Nice Côte d’Azur debut with a straight-sets ousting of Belgium’s Xavier Malisse. The 27-year-old American is bidding for his fourth semifinal berth of the season.

    Davydenko held on to dismiss 7th seed Denis Istomin in the round of 16, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3. The 30-year-old veteran looks to reach his first semifinal since February, when he finished among the final four in Rotterdam (lost to Federer).

    (2) Gilles Simon vs. (Q) Thomaz Bellucci

    Second seed Gilles Simon holds a 2-0 series edge against world No. 70 Thomaz Bellucci. Thursday signals their second meeting on clay.

    Simon started the event with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov. The world No. 12 remains on track to book his fifth semifinal of the season.

    Bellucci made the quarterfinals after taking out former world No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. The Brazilian qualifier is bidding for his first semifinal since February, when he reached the last four in Sao Paulo.
