Tipsarevic, Karlovic clash at World Team Cup Singles match No. 2 in the Serbia-Croatia World Team Cup showdown will be contested on Monday. Ivo Karlovic is looking to keep the Croats alive as he goes up against Janko Tipsarevic.

Janko Tipsarevic and Ivo Karlovic will be squaring off for the third time in their careers when they do battle at the World Team Cup on Monday in Dusseldorf.

The head-to-head series is tied up at one apiece after a pair of 2011 encounters were split. Tipsarevic prevailed 7-6(14), 7-6(1) on the hard courts of Delray Beach before Karlovic led 7-5, 3-1 in the first round of Wimbledon and got a retirement from his opponent.

Tipsarevic is in fine form, but he is looking to bounce back from a 6-3, 6-1 blowout loss to Stanislas Wawrinka in his Rome opener. The eighth-ranked Serb had been coming off a long week in Madrid, where he advanced to the semifinals before falling to Roger Federer. Tipsarevic is 22-11 for his 2012 campaign.

Karlovic is a modest 8-9 for the year. The 6'10'' Croat has lost all three of his clay-court matches, to Juan Martin Del Potro in Davis Cup, to Bobby Reynolds in Houston, and to Nikolay Davydenko in Madrid.

Serbia already owns a 1-0 lead of Croatia as Viktor Troicki beat Ivan Dodig 6-3, 7-6(3) on Sunday. On grass or maybe a very fast hard court, Karlovic would have some chance of keeping his nation alive. However, based on surface and current form, Tipsarevic in straight sets is the pick.

Instead, it was Lovro Zovko. Tipsarevic won 6:0, 6:0.

to Zovko's credit, he won 18 points! (out of 71 total in 12 games)

Who is Zovko?! Is he a professional tennis player or just randomly got picked from the amateur tennis courts? It really looked more than ridiculous to watch these two play right after Rafa vs. Nole final in Rome...Unbelievable...I thought this WT Cup was a serious thing...

Natasha, he is on ATP circuit, I've seen his name here and there. I think he played at Serbia Open in doubles or qualifications, can't remember. But yes, seen that name before.
