  • Murray takes on Giraldo in Barcelona third round

    4/26/12 4:24 AM | Cheryl Murray
Murray takes on Giraldo in Barcelona third round Andy Murray will battle Colombian Santiago Giraldo for a place in the quarterfinals.

World No. 4 Andy Murray had an off tournament in Monte Carlo last week. The Scot was in a dogfight with Julien Benneteau in the third round before the Frenchman took a horrific fall and had to withdraw from the match with a broken elbow. Murray’s next match resulted in a loss at the hands of Tomas Berdych.

Santiago Giraldo spends much of his season on clay courts. The Colombian, ranked 54 in the world, traveled to South American for the clay court swing there and had an impressive semifinal result in Acapulco.

Giraldo’s last tournament was a Challenger event in Colombia; he lost in the semifinals to Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo.

Prediction – Giraldo is more at home on clay than Murray, but the world No. 4 will be fighting hard to get into good form before the French Open. Murray in 2 tough sets.
