Tsonga opens Monte-Carlo bid against Kohlschreiber Fourth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will begin his run at the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters, as he takes to the court against Germany’s Philipp Kohlschreiber. The winner earns a spot in the round of 16.

World No. 5 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga holds a 4-1 series advantage over world No. 34 Philipp Kohlschreiber. The players are split at 1-1 on clay.

Tsonga makes his return to action after France’s quarterfinal loss to the United States in Davis Cup. The 26-year-old is 19-6 for the 2012 season, aided by a title-winning effort in Doha.

Tsonga is bidding for his third victory in Monte-Carlo.

Kohlschreiber defeated qualifier Guillaume Rufin in the first round, 6-4, 6-4. The 28-year-old will attempt to record his 14th win at the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters.
