Mayer meets Kukushkin, Andujar back in action Florian Mayer will kick off his Monte Carlo campaign against Mikhail Kukushkin on Tuesday. Pablo Andujar returns to the court two days after winning the Casablanca title.

    (14) Florian Mayer vs. (Q) Mikhail Kukushkin

Mayer and Kukushkin will be going head-to-head for the first time in their careers when they do battle in round one of the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters on Tuesday. It has already been a good week for Kukushkin, who qualified for the main draw with victories over Arnaud Clement and Grigor Dimitrov. The 68th-ranked Kazakh is 3-4 at the ATP level this season.

One of the streakier players on tour, Mayer has mostly been slumping in 2012. The 20th-ranked German beat John Isner in Miami (in addition to another Top 10 scalp of Rafael Nadal last fall), but he is just 4-8 for the year. He is coming off a blowout loss in his Casablanca opener to Jeremy Chardy. This could go either way and likely all comes down to Mayer's form, but the No. 14 seed should have a little bit too much variety for Kukushkin.

    (Q) Federico Delbonis vs. Pablo Andujar

Andujar will be taking the court two days after successfully defending his Casablanca title. The Spaniard already has 10 ATP match victories this season and he is up to No. 39 in the world, one spot off his career-high ranking. Andujar also reached the fourth round in Indian Wells, where he lost to world No. 1 Novak Djokovic.

Up first for Andujar in Monte Carlo is Delbonis, whom he has never faced. Delbonis qualified for the main draw over the weekend by taking out Leonardo Mayer and Adrian Ungur. The 21-year-old Argentine is 3-3 at the ATP level this year, giving him six ATP match wins for his career. This is a quick turnaround for Andujar, but he should have enough to get the job done in straight sets.
