Dolgopolov battles Baghdatis, Tipsarevic meets Nalbandian Alexandr Dolgopolov will run into Marcos Baghdatis on Tuesday in Indian Wells. Janko Tipsarevic and David Nalbandian are also bidding for a place in the fourth round.

Marcos Baghdatis vs. (21) Alexandr Dolgopolov

Baghdatis and Dolgopolov will be facing each other for the fourth time in their careers at the ATP level and for the fifth time overall when they clash in round three of the BNP Paribas Open on Tuesday. Dolgopolov leads the head-to-head series 2-1, but it is tied 2-2 overall (all on hard courts, Baghdatis won a 2009 Challenger meeting). They most recently collided last year in Metz, where Dolgopolov prevailed 6-7(5), 7-5, 6-3.

The 21st-ranked Ukrainian opened in Indian Wells with a similarly hard-fought battle on Sunday, as he survived Steve Darcis 6-7(13), 6-3, 7-5. Dolgopolov is now 8-5 for his 2012 campaign. Baghdatis has already taken out Jeremy Chardy and Feliciano Lopez, both by 6-3, 6-4 decisions. The 47th-ranked Cypriot is a stellar 14-6 for the season. Based on current form, Baghdatis in three sets is the pick.

David Nalbandian vs. (10) Janko Tipsarevic

Despite being ranked 74th in the world, Nalbandian is still going strong at 30 years old as he heads into his third-round match on Tuesday. The Argentine has not dropped a set in Indian Wells and is 3-0 in tiebreakers. He beat Potito Starace 7-6(4), 6-0 then took out Marin Cilic 7-6(3), 7-6(4). Nalbandian is now 9-4 for the year.

Up next for Nalbandian is a second career meeting with Tipsarevic. Their only previous encounter came at the 2007 Australian Open, where Tipsarevic squandered a two-set lead then retired in the fifth set. The 10th-ranked Serb is a solid 12-4 this season after winning his opener 6-4, 6-2 over Gilles Muller. This could go either way, but look for Nalbandian to score a minor upset in three sets.
