    Acapulco - Ferrer faces Giraldo for finals berth Two-time defending champion David Ferrer will attempt to make another final at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel late Friday. The world No. 6 is in semifinal action against Colombia’s Santiago Giraldo.

    World No. 6 David Ferrer leads World No. 80 Santiago Giraldo 1-0 in the series, having won their only previous meeting at the 2011 tournament in Auckland.

    Ferrer is through to the semifinals following his 6-2, 6-4 ousting of compatriot Pablo Andujar. The 29-year-old is bidding for his third final of the season (Auckland, Buenos Aires).

    Giraldo held on to defeat Argentine veteran Carlos Berlocq late Thursday, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4. The 24-year-old looks to make his second tour-level final on Friday.

    Prediction: Ferrer in straight sets.
