(1) Juan Monaco vs. Igor Andreev
World No. 29 Juan Monaco holds a 4-2 series edge against Igor Andreev. The Argentine leads 3-1 in clay-court matches contested.
Monaco looks to regroup after suffering a first-round loss at the Australian Open. He is twice a finalist in Chile, having finished runner-up to Fernando Gonzalez in 2008 and Thomaz Bellucci in 2010.
Andreev survived a challenging first round, in which he rallied to upend wildcard Paul Capdeville in three sets. The 28-year-old converted three of nine break points, through to a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory in two hours of play.
He is bidding for his third win of the season Wednesday night.
(4) Pablo Andujar vs. Frederico Gil
Fourth seed Pablo Andujar trails second-round opponent Frederico Gil 2-3 in the head-to-head series. Tuesday signals their sixth meeting on clay.
Andujar enters into the tournament with a 1-3 record in 2012 following a second-round loss to Juan Ignacio Chela in Melbourne. The 26-year-old will be making his third main-draw appearance in Chile this week.
Gil held on to beat Italy’s Paolo Lorenzi in the first round, 6-3, 5-7, 6-1. The 26-year-old secured eight service breaks through two hours and 26 minutes. He is bidding for his second victory in Chile on Tuesday.
